I live in Thailand, and been here on an education visa for two years, which will now end. I have a four month gap until my 50th birthday (retirement!). My plan now is to get two 60-day tourist visas. I will apply for my first one in Kuala Lumpur. Maybe get my second one from KL too, since the embassy there has a nifty online service where you book a time slot. Any thoughts, tips, warnings or suggestions? What should I bring to help my get through passport control at Suvarnabhumi?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user living in Thailand on an education visa is seeking advice on transitioning to tourist visas for a four-month period before turning 50. The plan involves obtaining two 60-day tourist visas in Kuala Lumpur, prompting inquiries about necessary documents for passport control and overall application suggestions. Comments provide varying opinions, with some recommending border runs for extensions, while others caution about the risks of applying for visas in SE Asia.

, because the fact that they managed to live here on tourist visas a long time does NOT mean you will be able to get a tourist visa OR get into the country on one with your entry history.

I agree with

. IF you haven't used your visa exempt entries by land use them because you have almost no chance of being denied entry.

I would not recommend you apply for a Tourist Visa in KL or at any SE Asia Thai Consulate. The chance of being denied is possible.

Do two border runs... Getting 30 days each time plus an extension of 30 days each at local Thai Immigration office 1,900 Thai baht.

That will fill the four months you need.

Denied at the embassy or airport? I thought there will be a bigger risk of getting denied at the airport doing it your way...
