Genius some airlines still require test 48 or 72 hours before departure. Still rip off hotel test and insurance. So what genius made the monumental changes? Not sure about Thailand pass

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers are expressing frustration over ongoing testing and insurance requirements for trips to Thailand amidst shifting policies. Some airlines still require PCR tests within 48 to 72 hours prior to departure. Users discuss the high cost of testing and quarantine hotels, debating whether these measures are necessary or just profit-driven. There's a mix of opinion on travel insurance as well, with some advocating its necessity while others view it as a scam. As for the Thai Pass system, ongoing conversations suggest it may remain in place for a while, but travelers are also considering alternative destinations due to the stringent rules.

The hospitals are losing money from medical tourism so they do this, Vietnam Malaysia and Singapore aren't, go there instead and send a message to a deaf tourism minister and pm

First, breath ... in Thailand the announcement to actual rule change ratio during the past two years has been about 4:1, so businesses will not amend their processes until after the rules are properly approved and published in the Royal Gazette. Right now, pre-flight PCR tests are still required. Additionally, some airlines are bound to comply with national regulations in other jurisdictions. If the revised Thai rules do in fact take effect from 1 April, expect it to be published on 31 March, and any earlier will be a bonus. Happy trails.

And it will take some time for airline staff to catch on.

It’s not so much a matter of individual staff catching on. When the Thai government publishes the revised regulations and notifies IATA, TIMatic will be updated and ground staff all over the planet will instantly see the new rules when they start the check-in process for a Pax travelling to Thailand.

U are correct.

Government may change its policy but the airlines are governed by their alliance position - some will only fly vac n refuse to fly unvac regardless of what government says

I agree with you. my step mum died in Thailand. Air ambulance stood waiting on tarmac twice sadly she didn’t make it. Then had to be repatriated home. Dread to think of the cost without insurance. I buy annual premium insurance for no more than £65 . Well worth it.

Touche, I had a two day hospital stay and a CAT scan cost less then $200 US, ( no ins),so that insurance scam seems to be paying off if you are getting 100,000 bht bills. I wish you all the health and happiness you can find.

Doesn't Europe have free health care? IDK?

David Bromage Insurance is a scam developed by America to raise prices astronomical so you can't live without it, and it says what you can and can't be cured of. It's a gamble against yourself, and you are saying you're gonna lose. 10 years ago you could have a two day hospital and MRI for under $200,( in Thailand)! Why would you freaking need insurance??? You may have mom and dad syndrome that you don't like to make your OWN health care decisions.Just make people rich on unused ins!?! And if you buy an air ticket with almost any credit card, you get ins. Automatically.

what about the PCR tests that were bought for 1200 baht being sold for over 3800 baht or the 500 baht hotel rooms that suddenly become worth over 3000 a night as an SHA + hotel not to mention the expensive room service plus the 750 baht breakfast you have to order before your test result miraculously arrives!!!! Shall I go on ?

I’m sure you did but going from peak season to may which is known to be far far quieter the price has gone from 3500- almost 10k baht for the same test and go. It’s obvious that it’s all about one thing.

You cannot count seasons as normal for last two years. A lot of the hotels were closed and reopened with test & go. New staff etc etc so you had soft openings basically. Average price is still below what it was before covid hit.

I’m sorry but I would have to disagree with you. There is no way you can say “staff” will impact the price this much. Also If you want your test Back quicker than 24 hours you pay an additional 2500 baht. 😂😂

Mosts of costs are goverened by hospital and testing.

Yes the extra costs for quick test is up to you having done 4 full quarantines i would just go rest in room till get results.

How much is the hotel you were looking at in May ? And what does it includes meals etc.

If you give me name i can get the agent price from the system
