What are the current challenges and frustrations surrounding the Thailand Pass application process for travelers?

This farce needs abandoning now. The pass is a failure. Even my Thai girl friend can't get back.

Write it off now and allow travellers to fly with 1 day hotel booking, insurance and a PCR.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights widespread frustration regarding the Thailand Pass application process, which is deemed inefficient and stressful for travelers trying to return to Thailand. Many commenters express that the application process can be difficult to navigate, particularly with the requirement of insurance and QR codes, with reports of some applications being approved quickly while others face unexplained delays. Suggestions for improvement include streamlining the process and allowing for simpler entry requirements, such as a one-day hotel booking and insurance proof. Overall, there is a shared sentiment among users about the need for urgency in addressing these issues to facilitate smoother international travel.

I posted previously in similar vein calling the Thais 'Neanderthals'. I felt bad afterwards for being Racist so went back to apologise and edit it but it has been removed. I wanted to edit it to 'IT Neanderthals' which I think is acceptable. The evisa and Thailand Pass websites should be designed independently by those with the expertise and not by the megalomaniacs in the Immigration department who get off on making life as difficult as possible for those 'Aliens' wishing to enter their country. Those running the country dont seem to realise just how bad their websites are, and how many tourists they have lost for years because of them. And this is compounded, I think, by the cultural taboo of criticising or condemning the work of others and in so doing making them 'lose face'.

Im pretty sure the Immigration police didnt design the evisa and Thailand Pass websites. That would be the MFA.They're acctually quite easy to navigate if you can follow simple instructions.

@Steve ******
WTF r the MFA then? Simple instructions my arse. It was all trial and error, and if u did something wrong u received an error message and sent back to the home page just like fekkin monopoly; without being given a reason why. "Do not pass go. Do not collect your visa!" At least Monopoly gave you a reason on the card...555. The 2nd year I used the e-visa website it was stuck on my previous years visa on the visa choice menu and would not offer me any other visa type. and it was impossible to clear it and start a new application. The embassy emailed me a 6 step guide on how to clear it to start a new application, but even they said if it doesnt work you must reregister using a different email address which is what I had to do in the end. The only help or instructions I recall was "Required documents must be uploaded 'in the proper manner". "In the proper Fekkin manner!" I havent been spoken to like that since I was at school!

To many people not allowing enough time from application to flight, biggest problem is people applying many many times thinking they have more chance but it reality they are clogging the system and by being greedy genuine people are missing out, shame on the selfish!!

Thai Pass site should not allow multiple applications with the same passport number. I am not a coder but I don't think it is a challenge to do that. I waited 4 days after my first application and saw others apply 5 times, then I started worrying about system being overloaded 6 days to my departure date so I myslef applied 3 more times and one of them got the code within 2 hr.

multiple entries should be banned and those who do should have them cancelled and have to start again, they are putting to much strain on the system, therefore genuine people are missing flights

The keep your covid out of my country mentality was fine in the early stages of the pandemic, but at this stage with the level of infections so low and so many vaccinated now it's completely asinine.

Of course I understand if I wanna get back to Thailand that's the way it is, but it's still idiotic.

Insurance is all that's needed with your airline vetting your policy to make sure it meets your destinations coverage requirement, if you do happen to get sick with covid we're not paying for your treatment.

There's no argument to the contrary, end of story.

SHE IS Thai, - - how farcical is that. Tomorrow is my last opportunity to get a PCR test or I have to change every thing including my hotel, insurance, flight and start again as my QR code will I longer be applicable. Thailand is not a first-world country therefore you should not expect a first-world level of logistics. Whining is reasonable here but just try to manage your expectations. Things that are super easy to deal with where I'm from (Canada) are much harder logistically here. Thailand is not as advanced in such areas. Some will say that I'm arrogant or wtv but no, I'm simply stating that not every country is competent equally. When I lived in Cambodia everything was logistically worse than Thailand, but I expected that because Cambodia is much poorer and a lot less advanced. But for every downside, you get an upside. For example, you get arrested without a permit, you pay 500 baht fine. For every annoying thing foreigners have to deal with there is a positive one that we get from being a foreigner. Visa is probably the #1 annoying thing, which I put the Pass in that category.
