So Thailand just removed the pre flight Pcr test starting April 1. Good news. However testing day 1 is still here and will be for awhile. I’m presently in quarantine and didn’t have to be. My suggestion is you spend a bit of money a couple weeks before your trip for a Pcr test. If neg great. But if + (heaps of asymptomatic + cases) you have time to get a Certificate of Recovery/ medical cert so if you test again positive in Thailand you won’t have quarantine. Just my thoughts.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Thailand has removed the pre-flight PCR testing requirement as of April 1. However, travelers must still undergo testing on day one of arrival. If travelers have a negative PCR test before their trip, it is advisable to obtain a Certificate of Recovery in case they test positive upon arrival, to avoid quarantine. Additionally, the discussion includes the requirement to stay in a hotel for the first night and subsequent rapid antigen tests, alongside insurance requirements.

Thailand remove the test before flight- just for vaccinated people, or also unvaxx? Thanks🙏🙏

Are you supposed to quarantine in a hotel for the first day? What if you have an apartment here?

@Bruce ********
Not allowed. I could see my Condo property from the quarantine hotel window. Super science and safety (NOT) $$$$

@Adam *******
that is just wrong on so many levels. At least it's not a mandatory 14 day quarantine. I think your own home would be a lot safer than a hotel. But that's just my opinion
Greg ********
Have not heard of this yet....do you still have to get test on entry and stay at hotel room for one night????
Alan *******
@Greg *******
yes and a rapid antigen test on day 5 also, along with $20,000 USD insurance.

@Alan ******
do you have to stay in a hotel if he actually have a home here?

I would still have a pcr test before I travel personally

So let me get this straight: If you get to Thailand with a certificate of recovery and you test positive on day 1, you don't need to do further testing? Then why would you have to test at all? I mean you are free to go anyway 🤷‍♀️

Negative in Vancouver march 8. Looking back they barely stuck the swab up my nose. Was positive in Vancouver coming back from Cuba January 12. Positive day one in Thailand. I didn’t do enough research so didn’t know of certificate of recovery. If I had, I wouldn’t be sitting here
Thea *******
What if you showed them your positive test from January?

I did. Didn’t matter because I didn’t have a medical certificate with me

Oh man 🙄🙈 Do another test. And get out of there. They didn't transfer you to hospital did they?

I paid for another test and it was positive. I’ve only got 2

days to go. Lesson learned.

I read that it depends on the ct value whether you have to do quarantine or not. Even with recovery cert. Do you know yours?

oh that's too bad 😓. But you can stay in the quarantine hotel right? They only send the symptomatic one's to hospital?
Guy *********

@Thea ******
correct. Stayed at same hotel I booked for day one.
Thea *******
Why do you have to stay in quarantine? Was your test positive?
Thea *******
So what does happen in that case? You are free to go?
Guy *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Thea ******
yes. Still have to get tested. But vast majority of the time free to go.
Thea *******
@Guy ********
so they would let one go without further tests? Except for the antigen test on day 5. I wonder what that one's for? 😁 I mean you take the test all by yourself right?
Guy *********

@Thea ******
yes self test. There would be no point in doing it unless it’s just an administrative thing. Wouldn’t change anything.

@Thea ******
it's a case by case determination by the doctors of the partner hospital to the hotel you're staying at and mostly based on how much virus you still have in your system.
