so , if I understand corectly -and prior to my flight to Bangkok I need a Thailand Pass QR code (? ) , documents that I am insured for $100,000 ( where do I get that ? ) + a very expensive designated hotel for 1 night where I will be tested ; results the next day ....is that correct ?

That means that I will not make it to my connecting flight the next morning to Krabi ?

pff, I don't know if I am the only one here but its getting pretty anoying . KLM cancelled my flight twice already , forcing me to cancel reservations and purchased twice a new ticket to Krabi . and now for the 3rd time ? For many years I enjoy the hotels in the Lat Krabing aerea next to the airport : great choice in great hotels for around 1000 Bath, perfect for 1 night before taking my connecting flight . A nice start of my holliday , for years , but now I am forced to stay in one of the overpriced hotels far away from the airport Not nice . Nobody knows how covid develops in the weeks ahead but the pre-fun is gone . I am curious to hear your experiences , tips and suggestions .

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers to Thailand must obtain a Thailand Pass QR code before their flight, provide proof of health insurance covering at least $50,000, and book a designated hotel for at least one night where they will undergo a PCR test. This may cause issues for connecting flights, especially if they are scheduled for the following day, as processing times can be unpredictable. Recommendations suggest allowing extra time and being aware of the restrictions, including potential changes in policies due to COVID-19.

What kind of visa are you using? I used OOM insurance from the netherlands before, it works. I think its called 'temporary abroad' and you can tell its for Thailand so all the numbers match. Not that expensive either. The hotel is not that designated, you have options. Also close to the airport. If you booked a connecting flight right after landing at BKK you really didn't do your research which also explains why you haven't heard from the Thailand pass:).

Thailand pass is something that is starting from
*****
. You will need it to enter, it does say you will need to apply (online) at least 7 days before your flight. Just keep reading in this facebookgroup, no one knows what will happen with this Thai pass and if the system will work.

It’s really not that difficult and it ends up costing $3-$500usd more than it would normally cost to get there pre Covid. If staying for more than a couple weeks this isn’t so cumbersome. Additionally, costs within Thailand for accommodation and activities are far cheaper currently than they were pre Covid.

@Tony ******
no good for people just wanting a
***
week break though and that's what the tourist industry is missing .so it needs to change to accommodate those people soon or it may never come back.

@Tony ******

My advice to everyone wanting to travel to Thailand or any foreign parts is to wait untill all restrictions are lifted on international visitors as the cost of protocol outweighs the cost of the holiday in many cases .just my opinion as I am already in Thailand and don't exspect to travel to the UK untill next year.but hey ho just my opinion .up to each person what they do.
Julie ***********
@Tony ******
why can't you travel to the UK? Unfortunately the good old UK seems to be the only place on this planet you can enter quite freely now with now only 1 pcr test to show you don't have the virus!!!!!
Tony *******
@Julie **********
Had the wrong vaccine and have diabetes and kidney problems so travel is out untill it's safe to travel .I would have to go state quarantine 3000£ because to UK don't recognize the Chinese vaccine yet had phizer second one so probably a booster soon of phizer will cover me for fully vaccinated then no quarantine .
Julie ***********
@Tony ******
I'm sorry to hear that, ...

Mind you, think I'd still rather be in Thailand than this flea pit right now...UK is going downhill rapidly..

If you say very expensive hotel, then you know nothing, John Snow. Many packages available for 3900 bahts up.

Do not book tickets next day.

Allow two days

If you're buying a flight to Krabi from KLM then quit doing that. It's unusable. Buy a flight to Bangkok and then get into the country then worry about getting to Krabi.

I began visiting thailand in 1999 and I’m sure glad I started coming back then in the good old days perhaps things will get more user friendly again in the future if we have a future as free citizens of planet earth
Bobby ********
Gregg Steinberger. There will be entry restrictions on most countries probably for the next five years. We just have to accept what they are and choose accordingly. Thailand has many affectionados who will go nowhere else, and will be happy to navigate the process.

You need to apply for Thailand pass yes.

(Lots of info on group this last week how to do that)

Insurance you get from an insurance company and its
*****
dollars now.

(One of the most asked questions here on group again search button)

Hotels there will be a choice of a few hundred to suit different budgets, remember costs include transport from airport and 1 PCR test.

No idea what time you plan to arrive or what time your flight is to Krabi. As its all only starting monday nobody knows how long all the process will take.

When i recently did sandbox in Phuket it took 6 hours from test till i was allowed to leave hotel.

thanks Michael !

@Gertjan *******
Just remember hotels include one pcr test and cheapest i have seen is 2500 in Bangkok and transportation in certified transport, basically converted inside from driver and yourself. So hotel package costs are 3000 baht before you add room costs and extra staff who deal with the required covid protocols.

Michael ********
@Gertjan *******
