Hi everyone. Looking for some information. As I cannot go to Thailand, my girlfriend would like to come to the Uk for a month. I am aware of the current requirement to self isolate here but that is changing weekly. Does anyone know if there is any restrictions from the Thai government on citizens leaving the country for vacations ? Of course this would all depend on her obtaining a visa.
Thanks for your advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the challenges faced by a user whose Thai girlfriend wants to visit the UK for a month amidst the ongoing pandemic. Key points include the necessity of obtaining a visa for UK entry, potential quarantine on return to Thailand, and the complications associated with travel restrictions and visa application processes during the COVID-19 situation. Respondents note that while Thai citizens can leave Thailand, the return may involve expensive quarantine costs, and the situation regarding UK visas is complicated by travel limitations.
Im following this post I would like my Thai partner and my daughter to come to the UK ASAP they were booked to travel April there visa Expired end of June so once the quarantine rules are lifted its back to making a new visa.Does anybody know if the UK government are giving any leeway about visas affected by the covid 19 they had a visa but couldn't use it or would they need to Apply again
the isolation requirement in the uk has changed several times over the last few weeks. For example there is no requirement to self isolate if travelling to the uk from Vietnam now.
unlikely she will get a visa as there is no easy way for her to go home so length of stay will be the big issue. Also she would have to Quarantine at both ends of the journey and in Thailand that is expensive no less than 35k Bt
I think she will find getting a UK visa very difficult. I am in the UK and my wife can not get back to Thailand. She has her name down for repatriation flight. I dont believe the UK gov will let people fly in with no way out. UK visa are not the easiest in normal times !
Yes all travel is Visa dependent. Thus far the UK government has only lifted the 14 day self isolation requirement with countries that offer a reciprocal arrangement. With Thailand extending it visa amnesty again, I think that indicates there is no plan to open the borders so no reciprocal arrangements will be coming with Thailand soon. Thai citizens can leave but as has been said by others, your girlfriend will need to go through the quarantine on her return to Thailand.
I have reverse situation but Cambodia. Unfortunately I think this nitemare isn't gonna be over soon. Wish you and your girlfriend well and hope situation improves fast for you.
that’s great!! And Turkey can be a fantastic country to hang out. Istanbul is amazing. Cappadocia has some magic. And south coast Antalya has the gorgeous weather. Thx for advising on here! Great backup option
None its just getting back into Thailand she would have to apply and possibly as she left the country willingly she would have pay for quarantine which can cost between
Its the duty of a country to return its citizens in times of crisis calamity etc etc. If she chooses to leave during this time it is her responsibilty to get back.
yep not disputing that. Just saying my niece recently went to Norway on holiday and returned to Thailand and had no issue using the free state quarantine.
ah ok. I hadn’t heard anything about the authorities checking particular circumstances. For example my Thai niece went to Norway recently and has since returned and went straight to the free state quarantine in Sattahip.
