What are the tips for applying for a SETV at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur?

I am sharing KL SETV advice, if appropriate..

On application at KL, I had one SETV plus extension in my UK passport.

I took their advice on the website seriously. I filled in the form and the checklist prior to arriving and I got there early, at 08:45, I was already 50 in the queue and they only deal with 130 a day, as I was told.

If you don’t have onward travel booked with proof prior to day 60, proof of your booking\itinerary in Thailand, including copy of housebook and Thai ID if staying with a Thai resident (which I am, but no TM30 asked for to prove my previous 3 months) or if you don’t dress appropriately, you will get turned away.

They don’t want to listen to how you’re going to apply for an extension; that’s a privilege if it’s given, not an absolute. I saw many people get turned away for trying to discuss that as a fact.

That aside, I found it seamless and easy. They didn’t ask for proof of funds or any explanation other than the paperwork and checklist and your POOT.

If this is not appropriate then please delete!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post provides an account of the author's experience applying for a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Key advice includes arriving early due to limited daily processing capacity, ensuring you have onward travel booked, and necessary documentation like proof of stay with a Thai resident. The author emphasizes the importance of following the checklist provided on the embassy's website and notes that discussions about extensions during the application are discouraged, suggesting that the process was generally straightforward despite some warnings about visa rejections for frequent travelers.

Easy get setv in KL... But after 3 setv they stamped red stamp over my visa.. The holder of this passport travels to Thailand under a tourist visa several times which may result in the refusal of a visa in the future ... What is this meaning? .. They dont want me come again in KL?

@Robert ******
i can stay nearly 270 days on metv and after one visa exempt and fly home for new metv... yes i understand, lottery
Robert *******
All neighbor countries do the same. They look in your passport and if they think it is enough they give you the stamp. The tourist Visa is not ment to live inside Thailand, after all this visa does not allow you to work. And yes, we all win the lottery every 2 months so no problem to live here, but not everybody believes that.

but only in KL or neighbouring counties? Now i have new metv from my home country.. But if i change passport, only IO can see my history right?

It means what is says, if you go again they may refuse you a new SETV.

KL has the check list on their website, print it, use it and you will be fine.

At the Thai Embassy you can only apply for a NEW visa not for an Extension, the TM30 form is used by Immigration office inside Thailand not by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who runs Thai Embassies an Consulates.

What I understand she is saying regarding the extension is that KL will not take a flight out between 60 and 90 days to get the visa, that it has to be before 60. That is new, I think, most consulates will accept a later flight on the basis that you will get an extension within Thailand. Might want to consider that when you are writing your planned arrival date on the form.

Thanks for the info, just highlighted it, to much fake news going around.

Yes, it was a new visa applied for. I had heard that some would require a copy of my TM30 even outside of Thailand which appeared to be fake news! Just sharing my experience
