I would like to know which agencies can help with switching from a DTV (what I have now) to Non-B visa and a work permit (what I want). I know what some other people have paid so if you’re an agency that is going to give me a quote of like ฿50,000 please don’t bother commenting on this post. Let me know, Thanks!
Answer summary
The user is seeking recommendations for agencies that can help facilitate the switch from a DTV visa to a Non-B visa along with a work permit in Thailand, expressing a desire to avoid any agencies that charge around ฿50,000. The comments include discussions surrounding various visa processes, costs incurred at different embassies, experiences with the e-Visa system, and cautionary advice to be thorough when applying for visas to avoid additional fees due to errors in applications.

That happened to me too. I applied the 2nd time and had to keep trying to change the passport expiry date. I got it in the end

Why did you go to the Embassy ? Why didn't you apply online at the Thai E-visa site ?

You're implying that someone between you and Thai Immigration messed up.

I mean, the Embassy would just take your docs and submit them, no ? Or would they have transcribed the details somewhere/somehow and forwarded on the paperwork ?

I used the official eVisa system. When submitting I had to pick either Sydney or Canberra as the processing location. As applications from Melbourne are handled by Canberra I chose Canberra to send my application there

I did used the eVisa system and uploaded my eVisa documents to the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra

Jay Zhang OK, this is where I'm confused. If you used the Thai e-visa site, why was the Thai Embassy in Canberra involved at all ?

You say you uploaded your evisa documents to the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra.

Supposedly the Thai e-visa system/site goes right to Thai Immigration and bypasses ALL embassies.

So, what SITE did you use ? Do you mean you did NOT GO TO the embassy in Canberra ? Just used the e-visa site ?

Alan Rothwell They did apply via evisa they used Canberra because every state except NSW must use Canberra for their online Applications. This person was in Melbourne. Also its not immigration at the Thai embassy, immigration are in Thailand.

AtrustworthyJaguar How do YOU know he used e-visa ? He specifically said "I applied for Thai DTV visa at Canberra Australian Embassy".

AIui, the Thai E-visa site was created so the embassies would be cut OUT of the process, not so ?

So, I'm not following your "They did apply via evisa they used Canberra because every state except NSW must use Canberra for their online Applications" DID evisa and Canberra embassy".

The e-visa site is run by Immigration, so the application and documents go right TO immigration, bypassing the Embassy, and Thai Immigration decides.

Or does the DTV require some face-to-face document exchange/signing at the Embassy ?

The application website uses OCR optical character recognition to read the biodata page photo of your passport after it's uploaded. The OCR is notorious for misreading the information. The e-visa website specifically warns you to check the integrity of the data filled in automatically. After you upload the photo you must triple check the form before submission.

Just look at your screen shots of each step of the application. You can then use these to prove that you entered the right information. Best of luck.

I recall there are warnings about getting these details correct as they cannot be changed. I applied through Canberra and was very careful. This is Thai Bureaucracy for you. I am now in Thailand and went to get 4 Certificate of Residence certs. ฿500 baht each but my GF wanted to save me money so talked on the phone to the IO. Next thing I know the IO says you can come in three days time and get free one, is this what you want. I am like sure I can come back in 3 days and save ฿2000. So I agree, I sense she is annoyed as she already made the 4 certs, handed them to me but then asked for them back.

She started peeling my photos off the certs and said you come Friday and get one free. You then come in three more days and get next one free. Have to go 5 times to get 4 CoR for free. No time to think about any middle ground but so go back on Friday and I will get one free, pay for one immediate one then apply for one in another 3 days so I will pay ฿1000 for 4. Keep frugal girlfriend happy and only attend 3 times to collect what I did have in my hot little hands just yesterday.
