Hello, I have a question regarding touring by motorcycle in Thailand. I've lived in Thailand before, for years. When there were no real requirements for reporting your living address. But now, I read, there is some form you have to fill out, or somehow report WHERE you live. This seems ok in most circumstances, but what if I want to simply tour independently around by Motorbike or Train for 3 months. Meaning, ride the country and stay in hotels for days or weeks at a time. Is this now impossible (not impossible, but difficult?)

TLDR : Answer Summary
Touring independently in Thailand on a motorcycle or train for three months is feasible, although there are some reporting requirements related to your living address. Hotels typically manage the necessary TM30 reporting when you stay, as they automatically file this for you when you present your passport. However, it is still important to be mindful of the requirement to report your address every 90 days while in the country. As long as you stay in hotels, this process should be straightforward. Some commenters have noted that experiences with registration can vary by immigration office, but generally, as long as your hotel does the reporting, you should not face difficulties. For additional concerns, motorcycle touring groups can provide more specific information on visa issues and addressing any other queries you might have.

Thailand has some of the best roads I've ever ridden on - nationwide. Far better than roads in the US, especially in colder states.

in my opinion it's not due to poor roads. More due to vehicles in poor condition that aren't maintained and bad driving. The roads themselves are pretty good.

Some road design is poor however, with dangerous intersections for sure.

oh i never drive in australia before, from my observation, Thai driver seems very patient and well mannered, at least better than hong kong drivers where i come from, need to exercise care anyway

suggest you check road safety and/or accident rate country ranking via internet google search

Hotels will do the reporting for you. Rent a (big) car instead if you value your life.

I don’t see any difficulty in your plans re touring/remotely reporting. Plenty of bike groups (Issan Riders, Thailand Riders Paradise, etc..) around if you’re looking for a more specifics re visa issues.

Hotel will file for you ... hence showing them your passport. If you camp... no one will care. If you are registered at your home address.... other than staying at a hotel who will file for you.... no one will notice now is it required if returning to same address. Been here for 10 years. I let hotels do their thing as they are required and leave well enough alone.

You are also required to report your address every 90 days during your stay in the Kingdom, regardless of TM30.

The TM30 is also applied differently depending on immigration office. In Pattaya agent registered for me at Jomtien. I twice went to report myself after in country travel and outside country. Jomtien said no need if returning to same address. In Bangkok for 20 months inc 1 WP and Visa renewal. My TM30 has never been registered. It would seem Chmchurri has no requirement. Never had an issue with renewals or 90 day reporting by office staff.

Hotels do all the work, that's why you present your passport.

The hotels will do your TM 30 automatically when you stay there.
