Do my husband and I both need to transfer $15,000 for the DTV visa application, and what about flight details?

Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions about applying for the DTV visa:

1. My husband and I want to apply together. Do we each need to transfer $15,000 into the joint account ( is that right amount??? It Seems like Quite a lot if each of us have to do it) or is it enough for just one of us? After the money is in the joint account, do we have to wait three months before applying for the visa, or can we submit a letter explaining that the funds are from our own company and are legally moved to a savings account, so we can apply immediately without waiting three months?

2. When applying for the visa, do we need to provide flight details? Do you recommend booking flights in advance? What if the visa is denied—how can we handle changing the tickets?

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences!🌺

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about applying for a DTV visa with a spouse, specifically regarding joint funds in a bank account, application timing, and flight booking considerations. Key points discussed include the necessity to separately apply for visas as each applicant must provide proof of funds. It is indicated that a joint account may require double the funds since each applicant must show their financial capability. There are also concerns about handling flight bookings in the event of a visa denial.

When we did a 1 year retirement visa they would not accept a joint account, I had to have my on account with 20,000 US $ just in case he left me and I could support myself.. had a great banker who moved the $ around for us and opened a account for me and then moved money back to joint after showing the separate accounts... The difference with getting all of these visas and showing proof is at the us embassies. They won't tell you if something's wrong. They just won't respond, and you have to try to guess. And figure out how you need to fix things...

You can't apply together, either you both apply individually for your chosen purpose or one first applies, gets approved then the other applies as their spouse showing proof of relationship. For a joint bank account you need double the money as only half belongs to each of you. Some consulates may allow a sponsorship letter to be used for someone applying as a spouse but you would need to verify with the consulate you will apply through
