TLDR : Answer Summary
A Dutch citizen seeking to stay in Thailand for 170 days without leaving the country can consider a few options. The most feasible approach is to enter on a single entry tourist visa, allowing 60 days, extendable by 30 days, followed by a family visit extension for an additional 60 days. However, this totals 150 days, necessitating a departure for further stay extensions. Alternatively, obtaining a one-year multiple entry NON-O visa based on marriage is an option; this offers 90-day intervals, but requires leaving every 90 days. It's recommended to consult the Dutch embassy for specific details regarding this visa process.

Get the 1 year marriage visa . Half way through(before 90 days) , fly to a nearby country and fly back same day eg Singapore KL,or HCM.. A lot less hassle than messing around at immigration and about the same price as an extension is anyway.

Just make sure you pass through customs and get your passport stamped in the other country. Singapore and KL you won't need an entry visa. Vietnam I think you will.

I've done this myself twice with no issue.

Singapore does not stamp my passport as for me it’s automated

. This isn't about you. If it isn't stamped , it will be logged in the microchip.inside your passport and thai immigration will see it when you re enter and they scan your passport at control..

It's about £125 or 5000bt if you can get it. Still only gets you stamped in for 90 days!

@Steve ******
oh ok get it now it’s for one year but must leave every 90 days

@Steve ******

A few consulates will issue a year long multiple entry Non O based on marriage which gives you a 90 day entry each time. I was told yesterday that the Dutch embassy will do this, although you’ll have to check with them as I have no direct experience.

correct the Netherlands permits a one year multiple entry visa based on marriage. I nearly applied for this but now here for about only 8 days a month

That's the only option

You can only realistically get 150 days without leaving the country.

You can enter on a single entry tourist visa which will give you 60 days, and then you can extend that for 30 days. Then when that's almost up you can apply for a visiting Thai family extension which will give you 60 more days.

After that you're out of options and either need to do a border run or go home.

Ok, so left or right there is no way around the fact i have to leave the country at least once.

Thank you guys for the advice😄👍🏻

Yes, the only way to stay more than 150 days is to extend for 1 year or do a border bounce. You could apply for the Non Imm OA to get stamped in for 1 year, if you're over 50 years old.

He'd only get 120 days with a tourist visa. You cant get the 30 days and then the 60 days. They give you the 60 days first. The OP can get single Non Imm O plus 60 days extention, giving him 150 days.

what if i get the multiple entry 90 day non imm o, do i have to leave the country or can i get those 90 days extended in the country somehow?
Steve *******
@Manuel *******
You get 90 days with both single and multi entry non imm O visas. You can extend by 60 days or 1 year or leave and re-enter with the multi entry visa.

@Manuel *******
you have to leave and re-enter the country
