Hello, thanks for accepting me into this group. I flew in to Thailand (Bangkok) and received a visa upon arrival valid for 30 days. It expires August 4th. I want to go to Vientiane and stay perhaps a week or two in Laos. Are there any reliable bus services to Vientiane or should I fly? I want to come back to Thailand for two months after that. Do I have to fly back here in order to receive 60 more days? Do I have to show bank accounts for 60 day tourism? My passport is USA. Any help is greatly appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about traveling from Bangkok to Vientiane, Laos, and the best means of transportation, either bus or flight. They also seek advice on extending their stay in Thailand after their visa expires, asking specifically about the requirement of applying for a 60-day visa, and if they need to have bank statements for this visa type. Comments suggest extending the initial stay at Thai Immigration or applying for a single entry tourist visa at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane.

As an American....If you are on your initial 30 days visa exempt arrival...

You can extend your stay for 30 days by going to Thai Immigration and pay 1,900 Thai baht.

if you like to come back after you visit Laos, apply for the Single Entry Tourist Visa at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane a few days before your travel plans. With this visa you get 60 days of stay when you enter Thailand.
