TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK national extended their visa exempt status in Northern Thailand and is looking for information about visa requirements for neighboring countries, excluding Malaysia. Community members suggest that entering Laos or Cambodia would require a visa for re-entry into Thailand on a 30-day visa exempt entry. They recommend visiting the Mae Sai-Tachiliek border with Burma as an option that does not require a visa. Additionally, members discuss travel tips and affordable alternatives for short trips, noting that Thai nationals may not require a visa for these crossings.

@Stu***
, walk over, turn around walk right back takes 10 minutes.

Be advised, with the songkran holiday comin' up those borders are gonna be JAMMED with burmese going home for the holidays.

If you can wait and border bounce AFTER the holiday it'd be better.

Unless I'm wrong thaiz can't bounce in&out of Mae Sai (or any land border with burma) without a visa. :/

yep, you have to get a visa, stamp in&out of both Lao or Cambodia to get back in on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

The only place up north that you don't need a visa to get into is the borders with burma. You can go to the Mae Sai - Tachiliek border with burma and for $10USD (or 500 baht) you get stamped in&out of burma, and then you can stamp back into thailand on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

Remember though you can only get TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land in a year.
