What are the best options for getting a reliable internet connection in a condo in Thailand for short-term use?

Does anybody have any advice / information on getting a private WiFi connection in a condo for short term? Or maybe a unlimited SIM card data package that does not slow speeds over time? The connection needs to be strong enough for live steaming video, video calls etc.

Many thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
For short-term internet in a condo in Thailand, residents can consider purchasing a private internet connection directly from their landlord, as many condos offer this service. Alternatively, unlimited SIM card data packages from providers like Dtac and AIS are available, with plans offering decent speeds suitable for video calls and streaming. A 4G router can be used with these SIM cards for better connectivity. Users recommend checking with the condo's juristic office or other residents for specific internet service provider options available in the building.

It depends on your condo. Some have an exclusive contract. Best way around this is to use AIS 200 bhat a month unlimited on your phone for video calls and the AIS 4G pocket wifi that cost 2345 bhat in total - you keep it for 12 months for everything else. Otherwise, you need True for like 700 bhat a month for faster speeds with full router and wifi to handle video calls and online gaming.

A good fast cell phone package and then share the connection.

It’s the luck of the draw with condos. So many limit choice to one or two providers. If you’re lucky, you can have fast internet cheap. Unlucky? Forget about it. Start with juristic office and take it from there. Or talk with a building resident who has been there a while.

But for short term, an unlimited non-stop data plan for your phone is probably the easiest. I have had great luck with AIS.

You can get 12 months dtac SIM with unlimited data at 30mbps (fast enough for 4k streaming) for about 1300 baht. You can pick up a 4g router for about 1000baht

I've been wondering how I'm going to navigate this situation as well.. it sounds like you're saying that it's possible (this is what I was thinking) to have this setup?

dedicated cell phone with 12mo unlimited data running as a hotspot, running a VPN on that> only router connected to that hotspot>then all of my other devices would not have to run a VPN while connected to said router

If not, any advice is welcome!

you can get routers which take a SIM card and there are some routers you can add a VPN to. You can try the phone as a hotspot method but not sure why you'd then need to run through a router. You could just put the VPN software on your phone and use the phone itself as a your wireless router

I guess I was just thinking that there would be hardware limitations between a cell performing that task versus an actual router.

I believe you need a 5G phone then you can tether with an unlimited data package. I do it with a 4G phone but my friend has a 5G phone, the Date package for his phone costs 1200b/mth, mine is 300b/mth.

Most condos have private internet you can buy. Ask the landlord.

I use Dtac 10Mb/s 900B uncapped for 3 months
