TLDR : Answer Summary
For expats primarily using mobile internet, several users recommend different pay as you go options in Thailand. AIS offers a notable prepaid plan with 20GB of 5G data for 300 baht per month, especially beneficial for those switching from other carriers. Additionally, there are reports of unlimited 5G data plans for 2,500 baht for a year. Dtac also provides competitive pricing with plans like 50GB for 300 baht over 30 days.
Users mention that while AIS works well throughout the country, they had issues with DTAC in certain areas. It is advised to shop around, with some recommending SIM deals available at 7-Eleven, which can start as low as 200 baht for 30GB without call services. Overall, the best choice may depend on specific needs and usage requirements.

Get a sim from true or dtac, head over to the AIS store and ask to transfer your phone number to them. Then ask the store what pre-paid package you can get. You'll get 20GB, 5G for 300 baht a month, as a thank you for changing to AIS.
I'll echo what Rob is saying, you can also walk-in to any AiS store and get the same deal, you can even just grab a SIM and set it up yourself on the MyAiS app.
