I found a month-to-month apartment that doesn't provide internet. AIS/True only does 1 year contracts. Is there a way for me to get internet (50mbs or more) via phone hotspot (hopefully 5g) or other ways?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for options to get internet in a month-to-month apartment without a long-term commitment from traditional providers like AIS or True, which require year-long contracts. Several responses from the community suggest alternatives such as purchasing unlimited 4G SIM cards that are cheap and come with flexible month-to-month plans (around 300 baht for basic options). Other users mentioned they were able to negotiate short-term internet solutions with True, while others successfully used portable Wi-Fi devices with SIM cards for reliable internet access.

Not a problem getting a months sim. card, for 250b

In Pattaya,Central shoppers plaza, about 5th floor. Take your passport and she does the rest

TrueMove month to month is 300bht with unlimited data and calls. 10mb/second speed as a Hotspot. Very happy with it used for 4 months now, renew every month. Pick one up at TryMove store or 7-11.

Huh. I got AIS easily in Chiang Mai. Able to cancel it the day I stop using it. My phone was locked so they couldn’t insert the sim, but I went out and bought a pocket wifi (1700 baht) and they put the sim in that. I think monthly it’s 275 baht and it’s ubliki internet.

I was able to get True to provide me with internet as long as I paid 3 months at a time ahead of time. I originally planned on staying 6 months (which I told them when I wanted to sign up) but ended up staying for 9. Never had any issues

Plenty of unlimited 4g Sim cards you can buy cheap and abuse for a month. 4g is plenty fast enough for any kind of streaming and normal usage.

Run to ais going to be best probably, just bring your passport. I think unlimited 10mbps speed is 300 baht a month.

Oh 4g unlimited is available. That's true. Is it at 10mbps though? Seems a little slow

10MBPS isn't slow. The issue is upload speed for video calls. Usually companies will advertise something like 50MBPS download speeds, but only 1 have MBPS upload. You need to check both download and upload speeds.

My thai friend told she uses 8mbps with AIS and her speed test results strangely show 26 down and 25 upload. That would be more than enough.

10MBPS DL / 10 MBPS UL is good

100,000 MBPS DL / 1 MBPS UL sucks for video calls

most people greatly over estimated their needed bandwidth. You could probably get by with 4mbps and not notice a difference on zoom.

You might be able to get a higher speed unlimited through ais 4g,i think they do have at least a 15 maybe 20 option. I have one of their prepaid Sims as a backup and it does work as advertised. Your signal strength is your location is of course going to matter.

They do offer 5g, but I don't think unlimited and its pretty pricey. I would try a 4g first and see if works for you.

Other networks tend to max out around 10mpbs full speed like dtac and true, I got full speed for both, but they don't get much faster.

Yeah 10mbps seems too slow for my Zoom calls

I know True 10 mps unlimited is 10 mbps unlimited download, but upload is twice as much. And 10 mbps is enough for Netflix Youtube etc. Unless you are going to download Gigabytes 10 mbps is probably enough.
