TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around finding the best internet provider for rural areas in Thailand. Contributors emphasize that there isn't a single 'best' provider due to varying local conditions. Recommendations include checking with neighbors and locals to learn about the best options specific to the area. AIS is frequently mentioned for its good coverage, particularly in rural regions, while True and Dtac are also discussed. Alternatives like SIM cards and devices such as AirCards or routers using mobile data are suggested, along with Starlink for remote locations.

I used dtac and I lived in a village of less than 2k people there and it was great, better than WiFi in Turkey where I'd lived🤣

I'm out in the sticks, we've been with true for years, no complaints 👌
perfect response. Mark you need to see what yours are close to you and if any are 5g enabled. If only 4g then you can stream SD channels, but 5g needed for higher quality. Knowing the best tower will guide you to a provider

4G is still great here. I can get
******
Mbps on 4G, well enough for most needs. But I use that for backup only and when power is out. Our 1Gpbs fiber is more responsive and seldom lags.

How about Starlink? We use it in Australia as we live in a remote area. It's a little expensive but fantastic, we usually get 250-300mbps and no outages in 2 years
there is no best mobile internet provider. If your current mobile carrier isnt good then there's 2 left. So there's AIS True and Dtac. Did you ask your neighbours who they use? That's what I would do.

Your friend is a dick. They have 5G in the ricefield coffeeshops everywhere.
I mean in the countryside like where there is no coffee shop . 40 minutes to ,7-11 obviously there is internet in the built up areas . My friend lives in uthai thani very rural location

When you get to your destination, ask the locals which internet provider is best at that location, they can also direct you to the nearest teleshop or 7-11

i tried tot and true now i use 3bb very satisfied.

We use tot. There was nothing available in our area, but my sister in law found out if she got a handful of people in the area willing to get internet they would come and install the modem and wires. Then get each person to have their services connected.
We are super rural and have great speed 3-400mbps 5G service.

what about Elon Musk's satellites . I think its called star link .

I use AIS for mobile which works well. I'm also what I consider to be out in the sticks, 30 km to nearest town, but have a choice of fibre providers (at least before 3BB/AIS merged)

I have the same problem. No cable, no fiber. So i am supposed to buy something with a sim card to have wifi around my house. But there stops my knowledge about all these things. 🙈🙈
use your phone as a hot spot. I am with AIS fir 300 baht a month and it does everything I want including streaming movies. What's more, unlike a router, I can take it with me. Often much better than hotel wi fi.
I already use my phone as a hotspot but I need wifi for my security camera's and spotlights on my land. Can buy a spare phone but thought they had something like a router/hub with a sim card.
I got an 'AirCard' as a 'back up' to use on my laptop. I think in the UK they used to call them a dongle.

Avoid using the SIM solution if you need reliable speed for Zoom meetings or the like. I have an AIS and a True modem and they do work well for internet browsing but will cause you to pull your hair out when trying to get a steady signal for teleconferencing. I basically wasted my money on those. I had an AIS fibre connection installed and all is fine. If you are moving into a condo you have to be sure that nothing gets lost in translation - saying you need "fast internet" may get you sharing a single wifi connection with ten of your neighbors. No company is hassle free, always reliable here. The others have given good advice - ask several neighbors about their experience and go from there.

Really happy with AIS.. True I had support issues so moved a number of years ago

talk to your neighbors. test their Wi-Fi speeds. adopt whoever has the fastest

I am in a small village and use 3bb fiber optic! The way I found it, ask the neighbors.

Have found AIS was better in South and True better for central and Northern areas.
I have never lost cell coverage using AIS, been all over the place since 2015.

There is no "best internet provider." That all depends on what's available in the area. Your friend needs to ask some locals about either the best home internet provider for that specific place or which cell phone company has the best signal in the area.
