Is anyone or has anyone booked a flight yet for later on in the year? I’m looking at going end of September. It’s seems the best flights offering changes etc are with Emirates Etihad and Qatar? Anyone seen anything different?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around booking flights to Thailand for later in the year, specifically looking into options for end-of-September travel. Participants mention airlines like Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, and British Airways, discussing the flexibility of their tickets, changes in flight routes, and travel restrictions. Concerns are raised about booking early due to the unpredictability of the COVID-19 situation and the potential for flight cancellations, with some sharing personal experiences related to refunds and travel hassles.

I booked Qatra from IAH to Bangkok on 11 November the reason is good prices and no fees when you change flight.

Ps. I flew in from Bangkok yesterday.

Not too bad of an idea booking something now. Sure, there is uncertainties about what the exact conditions will be of entering in the future. On the other hand, almost all reputable airlines offer free date changes (only fare differences) on all their (even the cheap) tickets. They will not do so, once things are back to normal. So I am also thinking of booking now - so that I will then have a flexible ticket at a bargain price.

all the best to both of us, and yes I'd be out there too if it wasn't such a cufuffle. I have to say though I'm desperate for this to go ahead, going business is my 40th birthday pressie to myself 😁

Be very careful if or when you book a flight with any airline a while in advance ....they can cancel anytime because airlines apparently are a law unto themselves ....I’m still waiting for a

baht refund for over a year now from Thai AIRWAYS WHO CANCELLED MY FLIGHT 3 HOURS AFTER BOOKING...and I’m sure that they knew that that flight would not take off.....

Try and get a voucher from them today usable on any Star Alliance company. They won't be around much after Wednesday.

Watch Qatar delayed 2 hours miss my connection cost me 21 hour wait time for next flight and food voucher for 10$.

I will say this is a first for them probably a last for me

don't book any thing till the last min

Anyone would be wasting their money at the moment if they book now. Too many restrictions around the world still. Especially with the Indian variant here & the UK. Gonna be at least end of year.

Booked with BA. Would usually go with Qatar or Emirates for miles and comfort, but had vouchers. Still ablr to change and has good flexibility. Planned for November so hoping for the best. Seems forever away!

@Madz *****
are BA flying direct to Bangkok in November? I am also looking at using Avios but although it’s booked through BA it’s with Qatar.

heading to Phuket. Thought it was direct, but now I've checked it's via Doha

Good to get to Thailand, not good for returns at the moment because Dubai and Doha red zones, I think. That might change though by then
