TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around predictions for flight prices to Thailand as travel restrictions ease post-COVID-19. Participants express a variety of opinions on whether prices will rise or fall. Some believe that airlines will need to lower prices to fill seats, while others anticipate high prices due to reduced capacity and the financial impacts of the pandemic on airlines. Several users suggest checking various airlines and using sites like Skyscanner for the best pricing. Concerns regarding refunds for canceled flights and future travel plans are also discussed.

Show me the way to go home,

I'm tired and I want to go to bed,

Cos I had a little drink about an hour ago,

And it's gone right to me head,

No matter where I roam,

On land or sea or foam,

You will always hear me singing this song,

Show me the way to go home. My home is Scarborough. I am now in Buriram, Thailand.

Why are you asking on this site about the price of flights .I just surched for Aug £430 cheapest. 😠😠😠😠😠
Chanin **********
But for us foreigners who are in thailand is there any other way we can go back home??? Because i believe theyve closed the airport in bangkok
Martin *********
@Chanin *********
there are repatriation flights since April.

Eva Air seem to have kept flight pretty affordable throughout, and one of few to keep services going

good news.

I don't think travel will become more expensive as itself - some airlines already are fighting this rule of empty seats for distance purposes, they say some other measures need to be used. It will not become more expensive by the same very reason - not too many people will now grab their suitcases and start traveling, not because they cannot afford it but because it's just too much of a trouble to travel at the moment - restrictions, quarantines, doctors certificates, etc...

Hotels and resorts, when they are allowed to operate again - will have to lure people with good prices 😊

Absolutely agree

The biggest problem is the recycled air conditioner in the plane ....

People won't travel because of the financial strains the virus has caused...and will take years to recover.

I am not looking to go back to Thailand until next June since I want to see how all of the new regulations shake out.
Keith *************
But we are lucky we have the Indian's and Communist China that will sort it .

I've talked to many of my English friends and they mostly said they would give it a miss this year 😢

Not true for everyone

Planes need 66% capacity to break even. If they lose middle seats, they need the remainder full and inevitably until things change, prices will rise. There may be some initial discount but I doubt for long.

@I**
Nope

I would have thought prices would remain high for some time. Airlines have taken a massive hit, staff laid off and aircraft parked up. Aircraft are designed to be in constant use and will require safety checks/servicing. Plus there may be empty seats/distancing. So fewer flights, fewer seats, lots of passengers= higher prices?

Round trip prices✈️🛬🇹🇭
Phill ******
i would very much doubt a round trip right now.

Here’s a ballpark price at the moment,.

Prices to Asia from the US for later this fall are cheap. I’ve seen SF/BKK for under usd$400. Several airlines are allowing no-charge changes if you book by June 30. The real question is what will the travel restrictions be in Thailand this fall?
Garrett ***********
@Ced***
Agreed

I have just booked for January 424 pound flying with etiad. Booked on the skyscanner site

Honest answer. F..k knows. It will be what ever
John *******
Has anyone had to get a refund using their credit cards yet?
Klaus ***********
@John ******
Yes, from Emirates. Booked directly at their page. Took a month or so. Oh but through the Emirates not through the card
John *******
I was looking to see if someone had claimed the money back on a card yet direct from visa or mastercard.
Phill ******
yep,air asia .
Steven *******

@Steven ******
don’t forget your consumer rights and the section 75 credit card act just in case you don’t get any joy from Thai Airways or your travel insurance
Brian ********
@Steven ******
Thai Airways can not afford to disappoint their customers past or future if they don’t honour the tickets already bought then why fly with them plenty of Airlines to chose from Shop around
John *******
@Steven ******
oh... not good.
Brian ********
Any Airline who puts up their fares because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) are fools. In these difficult times fares should stay the same or come down Don’t forget Airlines are offering a lesser service and Cabin crew are taking a 30% pay cut probably for the next two years and let’s not forget fuel prices have dropped So any Airline who puts their fares up for no good reason won’t be getting my hard earned cash
John *******
I wish I was seeing a price reduction over the next three weeks but looks like even Eva who have not stopped have increased their prices by 66%
Brian ********
@John ******
it’s the start of madness it will take every Airline to do the same and people should stop buying these expensive tickets
Andy ********
i predict that prices will reduce by approximately 24.67% for the first 3 weeks and then drop a further 14.77% for the next 2 months.

That's for economy and slightly more for Business Class. I also predict the lotto numbers but take a cut of all winnings.🧐👀
Vincent ********
Price will decrease because flight compagnies will need that the planes are full. Don’t worry about that
Phill ******
bullshit . they will have to comply with social distancing laws .which means planes will be half full .
Robert ********
Here in Phuket. I think late Dec. or early Jan.
Keith *************
@Robert *******
nothing will happen this year 😢
Steve *********
Use a site like skyscanner as they show prices from multiple airlines.
Robert ******************
Same here I’m checking Emirates and Qatar online in June July to book flights to Chiang Rai in January so hopefully they will not be tripled in price like some people have quoted 🙏😊🇹🇭✈️
Phill ******
check out thai airways booking site .see for your self .
Brian ********
@Phill *****
Thai Airways we’re charging £1,500 for economy class while other Airlines like Emirates we’re charging £500 for the same journey, date,time That’s why it’s gone bust
