I’m about to start my visa application process here in U.K. Any recommendations as to companies providing cheapest insurance travel cover to U.K. travellers with the specific Covid coverage requirements. Also how have/are people flying to BKK from the U.K. ? I assume all the designated airlines with short transit through their hubs are still ok?? Thanks in advance for your advice and recommendations.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centered around visa application processes for traveling from the UK to Thailand during COVID-19. Recommendations for travel insurance included contacting 'eis' for various options, with suggestions of insurers like Axa and Walkabout Insurance providing COVID-19 coverage. For flights, Thai Airways was noted as a direct option, but limited in availability. Other users discussed the necessity of return flights during visa application, confirming that proof of exit is sufficient. Airlines such as KLM and Qatar Airways were also mentioned as viable options for traveling to Bangkok.
My Americasn friend just flew from Atlanta to Amsterdam (??? airline) and connected to the KLM flight - departed Amsterdam 24 Dec - now in BKK quaramtine at the Courtyard by Marriot, Lumpini area, BKK...
it’s all a moving feast Mark. I could go for a property owner visa, a 60 day TV or an STV but think I’ll now go for the newly approved 45 day TV (15+30) which I assume can be extended for a further 30 days when I’m in Thailand giving me 75days for this trip. Agree?
good to have choices 😊 Was interest about the not needing a return ticket points as I had seen before that proof of exit was a requirement. I’m probably going to opt for the TR.
I thought you need a return flight booked to get the visa , I hope I’m wrong. I looked at flights and Emirates are offering good prices for return flights.🙏
Thai airways cattle class about £460 (very limited availabilty ). Then economy anywhere from £570 to near £800 depending on date. Only 1 flight a week ex LHR, full of Thais repatriating and Thais do not Covid test only a COE, all prices are 1 way.
I'd avoid them like the plague for now...no entertainment system on-board as they can't afford the licence. Can't remember if a mate who flew with them recently got food or not.
Contact eis on here expat insurance scanners they use most companies I used Axa but use the Thai one not the U.K. one.
As for flights there are certain airlines allowed into Thailand BA isn’t one of them, Thai airways are cheap at the moment they only fly once a week on a Sunday and it’s direct at 11hrs 25mins
appreciate your sound advice Neil. Agree best to go with Thai as it’s a direct flight but when I last checked was way more expensive than the other carriers (with transit)
