TLDR : Answer Summary
A discussion on preferred airlines for flights from Manchester, England to Thailand. Various users share their experiences and preferences, including direct flights and connections via Middle Eastern airlines like Qatar, Emirates, and Etihad. Some express dissatisfaction with certain airlines such as Thai Airways and KLM due to cancellations and service issues, while others recommend options based on budget and layover convenience. Participants also touch upon the importance of getting the Thai Pass for entry.
Yes, convenient for me, quite often prices are higher from Teesside so will go from Newcastle then. Much easier regional airports, Heathrow is a nightmare, together with traveling back to the North East also
Only do the Middle East airlines from Manchester and my preference would be 1. Qatar 2. Emirates 3. Etihad but the winner would be best price and duration out of those 3.
yes they were getting erratic even before civid struck. I always use Trailfinders as booking agent and they told me they no longer deal with them for that very reason.
I'm KLM and have 1 day left to get my Thai Pass before I have to change my flight. I've already changed it once because of the Thai Pass fiasco but KLM are very easy to change for free.
I don’t think everyone is choosing a particular airline or route, just what flights suit their budget and timeframes. You can go London direct to Bangkok, but from Manchester most would transit via the Middle East countries, so Qatar, Emirates, Etihad, etc. Some transit via Turkey ( hearing about many cancellations from there) or someone like FinnAir. etc.
