Were expats holding long-term visas in Thailand asked to leave during the Covid border closures?

I have a question for people who were holding long term visas before and during Covid. Despite the validity of your visa were you ask to leave when they closed the borders

TLDR : Answer Summary
During the Covid-19 border closures, expats holding long-term visas in Thailand were not asked to leave the country. Instead, various extensions were offered to allow them to stay despite travel restrictions. Many individuals reported being able to stay in Thailand for extended periods, sometimes over 1.5 years, on tourist visas due to these extensions, and there was no pressure to leave the country.

Is covoid coming again? Or world war 3

I reckon too many people realise that Covid was a scam, so more likely, it will be bird flu/influenza.

I also think that the “rulers” want to stop the U.S. election, in November, (can’t risk Trump winning) so suspect a new “pandemic” will be declared before then.

I wouldn’t put WW3 out of contention, which would also stop that election.

But, hey, what do I know? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I didn’t watch anyone die from Covid, but I honestly believe that people were told that folks died of Covid, but actually died of something else.

It was reported daily, on TV, that people were declared to have died from Covid, if they had a positive test within the previous 28 days, no matter how they died. Eg fatal road traffic accident.

I have been told by folks, that their elderly parents were taken to hospital, with existing serious medical conditions, tested negative, died within hours and declared to have died of Covid.

I think the whole thing was a Psy Op , designed to frighten people and get them to comply with the restrictions. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thailand probably treated tourists / expats the best during covoid. Also after covoid they were the first country in Asia to do quarantines and sandbox experiment. When it comes to Asian tourism nobody can compete with Thailand.

No. But wasn't welcome to re-enter if I left the country.

No not at all, covid extensions were offered if you couldn't travel. No one was asked to leave & it was quite difficult even if you wanted to as the majority of flights were canceled with destination countries requiring quarantine periods on arrival

No one was asked to leave when borders were closed. They came up with some solutions for extensions so people could stay here during the crisis.

There were many instances of people having long term visas and the like that couldn’t get back in to Thailand but they didn’t kick people out.

No. Covid extensions were a thing. Could keep getting an extension. I know people that stayed like 1.5 years on a tourist visa 😂 And nobody was asked to leave
