My friend exemption visa to Thailand was extended once already and due to expire by this 22Apr. Should he come to Chiang Watthana to stamp another extension to be safe? (even as we know that 30Apr is a given amnesty date). Thank much for the advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is asking whether their friend's exemption visa in Thailand, which is set to expire on April 22, should be extended at the Chiang Watthana office, even with the known amnesty date of April 30. Responses indicate that if the friend previously entered on a visa-exempt basis, there may not be further extensions available, and other options include applying for a different type of extension or utilizing the amnesty.
1. Does he have the Extension of Stay based on COVID-19 Under Consideration Stamp? If yes, go to CW and get it extended to the 30th. If not, he would be covered by the amnesty.
2. He has not gotten a 30-day extension of stay based on being a tourist. He *may be* able to apply for that extension of stay at CW, which would give him until mid May to leave.
However, Thailand is shut down, and I recommend taking James advice and catching the next flight home.
If your friend entered Thailand without the visa and used the 30 day Visa Exempt Entry and applied once or the 30 day Extension of Stay there are no more Extensions of Stay available.
All he can do is wait and use the free extra time or leave the country.
