Hi, my friend condition is entered with visa exempt + did 30 days extention already until 11 april 2022

Due to covid extention program end on 25th march 2022 and we never know govt. will extend this program or not, Is it possible if he go to IO on 24th march to apply covid extention? (it's mean around 17 days before his current visa period end)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of a friend applying for a COVID-19 visa extension at the immigration office, given that their current visa exempt status and a 30-day extension expires on April 11, 2022. The individual is considering going to the immigration office on March 24, before the COVID extension program officially ends on March 25. Comments suggest it is possible to apply for the extension, as immigration offices generally accept applications with 30 days or less remaining on a visa. However, the granting of the extension is at the officer's discretion.

Lets say IO denied his application and give 7 days consideration stamp (finally need to leave country), he will follow current visa period until 11 april or 7 days?

extension of stay denied stamps start the day they issue them they are NOT added on to the current extension.

They'd tell him he couldn't get the extension and he'd have to leave on his original expiration date of April 11. They wouldn't sell him the extension denied stamp with that much time remaining on his stamp now

Here's how it works

IF you BOUGHT a tourist visa from a thai consulate before you came here and were stamped in for 60 days when you arrived you go to the main immigration office at Chaengwattana gov't complex building B, counter J

BUT

IF you showed up here without any visa in your passport and were stamped in FREE on what's called a visa exempt entry you go to Muang Thong Thani Immigration office out by Impact Arena in the police compound there and you want counter K

they did their extension there because they had a REAL tourist visa before they came to the country.

They can go to their immigration office and apply for a covid extension and see what they say. They could get it or they could be rejected.

Most offices allow you to apply for a new extension when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp.

AND

HE should ask if they do grant the covid extension does it get added to his current expiration date OR does it start the day he applies?

Tell your friend he can go and apply.

Also tell him that it is the decision of the Immigration Officer to grant him a 60 day Extension of Stay because your friend is unable to travel back to his home country.
