Will my wife’s DTV application be affected if my new passport number doesn't match my marriage documents?

Hi Guys

I am wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me and could provide some information.

I have my DTV and we are now trying to apply for my wife’s DTV. I noticed that my DTV is issued to my new passport number as I had just renewed my passport because my old one was full, however my marriage documents are all on my old passport number so the passport number on my DTV and the passport number on my marriage documents do not match. Should this be a problem when applying for my wife’s DTV or could I just supply copies of both my passports and explain the situation? Has anyone else had a similar situation to mine? I know it probably depends on the embassy as well. We are planning to apply either in Vientiane or HCMC.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a DTV visa linked to their new passport, but their marriage documents are associated with their old passport number. They are seeking advice on whether this mismatch will affect their wife's DTV application and if supplying copies of both passports with an explanation would suffice.

It’s probably a good idea to do the transaction in person rather than the evisa system because your situation is more complicated.

Bring old and new passports and the documents.

Maybe write a brief note of explanation in English and also a Google translation in Thai.

Good luck!

If the embassy or consulate is using the evisa system then there is absolutely no option to do the transaction “in person”. Those embassies and consulates no longer allow walk in applications.

Depending on the embassy or consulate it’s either a walk in application or via online only. There is no choosing which way you’d prefer.

Simply state you have a new passport and supply both, passports are replaced and expire all the time.
