One quick question, is there an enter before date on a DTV visum? We want to apply in the netherlands were we live, but first travel to sri lanka and japan (were our daugther lives).

Be aware, the RTE in the Netherlands is one of the silly ones asking people to not leave the country before the DTV is issued. Not that they would know or catch you. But to play the game by the book, best to obtain the DTV before you start your travels.

Most countries ask you to stay while your application is processed. Also they can find out if you left country while applying.

Not usually at all, Embassy can request them after application has been submitted

Usually those copies / scans of all passport pages have been made (or even submitted) at the time of application already. Also, there is many countries (e.g. in Europe) that can be travelled without a passport or at least without stamps in the passport. Lastly, some people have more than one passport for the exact reason of slow and / or difficult consulates. I do.

well they can, What happens when they ask for copies of your passport pages and see the stamps. A friend was caught out for leaving country during his application.

No. It’s valid for 5 years. When you first arrive is up to you.

An embassy may not issue one if you tell them you intend to travel further out than 3 months though.
