Can I apply for a dependent DTV visa for my baby while traveling to Thailand on a tourist visa?

Hi everyone 🙏

I have a DTV visa, and I’m planning to apply for a dependent DTV visa for my baby (under 1 year old) while we are still outside Thailand.

My plan is:

1. Apply for her DTV dependent visa from abroad

2. Travel to Thailand before it’s approved (so she enters on a tourist visa)

3. Receive the approval while we are already in Thailand

4. Then do a short visa run so she can re-enter using the DTV visa

Does anyone know if this is acceptable, or if there could be any issues with this approach—especially considering she is an infant?

Thanks a lot in advance 🙏🙏🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on the process of applying for a dependent DTV visa for their baby from abroad, while planning to enter Thailand on a tourist visa before the visa is approved. Community responses indicate a belief that this approach may lead to visa application denial if the applicant travels to Thailand while waiting for approval, and whether there might be an interview required at the embassy.

1, Yes, you can NOT apply while in Thailand

2. NO, read the instructions, you need to stay until the visa is issued.

3. NO, if you travel to Thailand the application will be denied.

4. NO, as your baby does not get tehe visa issued.

Please, I not like to type again and again because you do not like the answers.

Do not delete and ask again, to avoid:

1. Yes

2. YES, just write in the extra letter tha requirements do not concern you

3. YES, as you wrote in the letter that what ever happens the visa must be issued

4. YES, Immigration will welcome you both with fresh fruits and free taxi.
