I’m living here for a few years now on a multi entry retirement visa.
I’ve rarely had to do 90 day reports as I usually leave and return before a 90 day report is due.
About 90 days ago I did go to Lao and back. I just went for my 90 day report and was informed that I had violated this rule I’d never heard of.
I was required to check in to my local immigration office within 20 hours of my return from Lao. I think staying in a hotel works too, if they report you to immigration.
The immigration officer here in Sakon let it slide but said the fine would be 5-10k
Any else have to deal with this?
Thanks, Ron

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, living in Thailand on a multi-entry retirement visa, shares their experience regarding the 90-day reporting requirement after returning from a trip to Laos. Although they typically avoid needing to report by leaving and returning before the deadline, they learned after a recent return that they were required to check in with local immigration within 20 hours. An immigration officer noted that violations of this rule could incur fines ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 THB, though they let the user go without penalty this time. The user seeks advice from others who might have had similar experiences.
