Advice please

1st entry: May 29, 2025=60 stamps + 30 days extension

2nd entry: August 26, 2025=60 stamps + 30 days extension

3rd entry: November 25, 2025= denied entry

Send back to my origin country but I didn’t do it. Instead I enter Singapore.

Is there a chance to visit Thailand again? If yes when?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience of being denied entry into Thailand after multiple short stays with visa exemptions. Despite having back-to-back entries and extensions, they were sent back to their home country. After entering Singapore instead, they inquired about their chances of visiting Thailand again. Several comments suggested applying for a proper visa and outlined the new immigration rules regarding the maximum allowed stay without a long-term visa. Experts in the comments discussed the importance of obtaining a visa to avoid future issues.

So you applied the 3rd time to stay in Thailand, I'm assuming another 90 days . So 270 days total . Are you a tourist or living here. You need the proper visa say a retirement visa than you can stay here for long term
Maxim ***********
Contact a reputable agent. Ongoing price to get in safe entry from a denied entry is 8-12k baht. Further entry it will be around 4k baht. You could have gotten back in November 26 if you wanted. Doesn't matter when you try with agent, you are guaranteed getting back in.
Steve ****
This is an exact description of what the IOs have been instructed to watch for.

Get a proper visa.
Jonny *********
So according to the rules, you are permitted to enter after January 1st, as a new calendar year.. But have read several posts that claim this will not be the case... Not sure if it's visa agents that are persistent this will not work, but maybe worth a try entering after January 1st?
Todd *********
@Jonny ********
we won't know for sure until Jan and some people test it out
Kurt *************
Only with long term visa. DTV, marriage, Elite,
Richard ***********
Think you can’t enter for 3 months once denied
Greg ***********
@Richard **********
prolly for even longer 🤓
Todd *********
@Richard **********
no such rule. But unlikely you get back in at same location. Try a new location

They told me that

There are no new "visa rules" or a new law.

What has changed, mandated from above, is the stricter review of the number of visa-free entries and the check for "visa runs" (actually, "back-to-back border runs" were meant).

The new approach of border officials is to ensure that "visa runs" and the visa-free entry system is not “milked” for a longstay in Thailand.

You can now only extend visa-free entries twice within a 365-days period.

The first visa-exempt entry can be extended with 30 days, but the second exempt entry can only be extended by 7 days.

60 + 30 + 60 + 7 = 157 days maximum within a 1-year period.

This applies REGARDLESS of whether you arrive by air or via a land border.

Unfortunately, it remains unclear, and it's left to the discretion of the individual immigration officer.

There have been reports where the 7-day extension was denied, with the explanation that you can't get an extension for visa-free entry via a land border, and there have been cases under the same conditions that were accepted.

And there are cases where 30 days were also granted for the second extension! What your experience will be is uncertain.

REMEMBER: Only these two extensions are possible per one-year period on visa-exempt entries.

This is not about the "calendar year," as that would make absolutely no sense. Nothing is "reset" on January 1st - this is a rumor circulating in Facebook groups, but it is NOT true.

Visa-exempt entries themselves are unlimited!

BUT: the total number of days of visa-free stays is limited!

Some people believe that unlimited visa-free entries are possible by air, yet that's simply wrong.

It is certainly possible, at the individual discretion of the border official, to allow multiple visa-free entries, for example, 3, 4, 5, or even more times.

In this case, your passport and the immigration central computer must show that your stays were short-term, for example, two weeks, and your total annual stay should not exceed 157 days.

There should be several weeks between each entry. The goal of this new approach was to prohibit "same-day visa runs," where you only stay briefly in a neighboring country and then immediately re-enter Thailand.

You must be able to prove your planned short stay at the immigration counter – for example, with proof of onward travel, such as a flight ticket.

I can say with certainty that border officials will consider you a "genuine" tourist for such short trips within a year.

However, they should be able to see on their central computer that you never extended these short trips with border runs or made any extra trips.
Pascal ********
This is perfectly in line with the rules in Thailand.You can't enter more than twice, with a maximum of 90 days each time, which makes 180 days in total. After that, you'll need to get a 90-day tourist visa, which you'll have to pay for.
Alan **********
@Pascal *******
We do not know that for a fact. 2-90 day visa exempt stays plus another90-day visa even though purchased, is 90 270 days, not likely a tourist. So there is some question whether or not whether paid or not that third 90 day visa would be acceptable.
Pascal ********
@Alan *********
Thailand cracks down on tourists who stay longer than 90 days without a proper visa. However, if you buy a 90-day tourist visa, there's no problem; you just have to pay
Alan **********
@Pascal *******
We do not know that as a fact. We know the stated goal of visa-exempt is to encourage tourism. We also know that Thailand wants to DIScourage foreigners from “living” in Thailand as “tourists”. Both of those are stated facts. Buying a 90 day visa is not necessarily a workaround.
Nickna******
East. Get a visa. 😊
Ian **********
Max days per year visa-exempt is now 157 days. It resets Jan 1st. You should get a visa
Bianca *********
Come back in the new calendar year and you’ll be ok.

Bianca *********
At the immigration office. I went yesterday and asked 3 different officers
Bianca *********
The new calendar for the new rules hasn’t started because this all began on November 13th 2025. Forget last year.

Not a single person has tested this because no one will know until 2026. Make sense
Darren *******
@Bianca ********
where are these new rules in the Royal Gazette?
Pe ****
@Bianca ********
Nope. I did 60+30 (end of Sept 2024 to early December 2024).

Returned in a new calendar year (02 January 2025). They let me in, after being quizzed by a supervisor at Suvarnabhumi airport, but with stern warnings to get a visa next time.

The new calendar year meant nothing in my case.
Alan **********
@Pe ***
As you say, that is “your case”. As you likely know things in Thailand, change, sometimes frequently. And new regulations are in place for less than a month, actually regarding this visa exempt process.
Todd *********
@Pe ***
'they let me in'. Because the new calendar meant something in your case

Perhaps that’s true, but I was surprised that I was stopped and questioned. I had returned to my country of residence. It wasn’t as if I was border hopping.

Alan **********
@Tony *********
I’m sure you have a point. I’m just not sure exactly what it is.
Tony **********
@Alan *********
Does he not shit because he has to pay for a public toilet? If he wants to stay more than 60 days, buy the proper visa. Pay your way (not you, but the OP).
Bianca *********
Next year..
Friendl********
You need a long term visa, edu visa, DTV or some other, you definitely need to pay for a long term visa if you wanna live in Thailand. Fast track service might serve you only one more entry and that maybe. Better ask agents they can inform you precisely which options are possible, they know what is legally appropriate exactly for you — not here
Luc ************
180 days, no wonder you gor rejected. Guess you will have to wait until May if you want to come on visa exempt. Otherwise, do what Brandon says.

@Bianca ********
that's more or less the gist of the new guidelines supplied to immigration officers with regards to how to treat border bouncers, but is also missing some information. But note that is about extensions and not entries.

@John *********
well then

Does it ever reset???

Come on Mr know it all

there is no reset

@John *********
there has to be a reset

You can’t just come to Thailand on 3 visa entries and extensions

Once again I interpret that from your comments
John **********
@Jeremy *******
no, you are deliberately misunderstanding the process. You know full well there is no reset, what there is is an immigration officer who will look at you and your history based on that. The underlying crack down on visa exempt entries persists. But if you are a genuine short term tourist you have nothing to worry about
Jeremy ********
@John *********
nope

I interpret from your responses

No reset for LIFE

are you a time traveler?

no but I read the information. The rules have not changed.

so then I interpret this from your response to my comment

Once you get to 3 visa exemption stamps and or 180 days it never ever ever ever ever ever resets at all

You’re done fake over…no reset ever

You have been in Thailand half the year with two back to back visa exemptions and extensions. This is why you were denied as they think you are trying to live in Thailand without a long term visa. Apparently that is no longer being permitted. Follow Todd's advice and maybe you will be good to go.

Hello. Does it mean that with tourist visa is not able to stay in Thai for a long time? We planned for 1-2 year. now have 6 month visa. in April i am thinking to do again 6 month visa. We have to leave at least for 1 day every 2 month (visa requirements). We have bank statement with necessary amount. Can we have problems? Probably i have to try for DTV visa? Do you know where in Hua Hin we can ask all this or online support? We plann to come in February. Thank you in advance

your not a tourist if you are stopping a long time are you 🙄
Todd *********
@Nigel *******
yes. Not all tourists are broke
Todd *********
What was the reason given for denial of entry? Where? Land or air entry?
Alan **********
@Todd ********
Two consecutive 90 day visa exempt entries equals 180 days. The next entry was again right after the first two. She is clearly not a tourist. That is why she was denied. This is exactly the person they are looking to keep out of Thailand.
Todd *********
@Alan *********
they aren’t looking to keep anyone out of Thailand. They are asking people to get visas for long term stays. If you are a legitimate tourist, no problem to use multiple exemptions. Be prepared to show onward travel and answer questions
John *******
@Todd ********
pretty obvious try to do three entries in less than six months every man and his dog knows it’s not allowed anymore
Graham ******
@John ******
the red flag was the two extension done on these entries, three entries would not be an issue for short stays
Todd *********
@Graham *****
60+30 two times already this year. Will extend this one also.just depends on circumstance, IO an situation.

In the case of this poster she needs a visa or fasttrack entry service with agent
Todd *********
@John ******
it is ‘allowed’. It just depends on circumstances. It will certainly result in some questions, but that is the job of IO's. A good friend here did third visa exempt entry 12 days ago. Over 200 days here in 2025. Everyone and his dog just doesn’t understand how it works presently. Enforcement has shifted for sure. And immigration does a very good job maintaining access and control. That's a good thing.
John *******
@Todd ********
once again it is pretty obvious that it is not allowed. Otherwise I would not have declined him. I think it’s about time you read the rules yourself. Get yourself up-to-date and a story.
