What are my options for staying longer in Thailand after multiple visa exemptions?

Since June I've entered Thailand (by air) on visa exemption already 3 times. The first two times I stayed 30 days visa exemption and extended 30 more days in immigration office. Then I went two months to Korea and now back on a 45 days visa exempt and I was hoping to do another border bounce and get another 45 days (for the last time), because I'm in the middle of some random course and extending only 30 days in immigration office is not enough for finishing the course.

But the last time I entered Thailand I was really questioned a lot by the officer about my reasons of coming to Thailand so often and staying so long, so I'm a bit worried that next time they might not allow me to enter. I understand that it's the officer's decision and no one can tell this for sure, but I would appreciate if someone has experience or advice about how probable it is to get denied entry.

Also my second option is to do a few days trip to Cambodia and apply for a 60days tourist visa there, as it apparently takes few days to be processed, but I was wondering could the visa request also be rejected for the same reason of staying in Thailand for too long?

I'm holding a Finnish passport and staying in Bangkok if that matters.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shares their experience of entering Thailand on a visa exemption multiple times and seeks advice on the likelihood of being denied entry due to frequent stays. They mention having been questioned about their reasons for extended stays and consider options such as doing a border bounce for extended days or applying for a 60-day tourist visa in Cambodia. Community comments provide various opinions on the risks of border bounces, visa extensions, and the potential need for a proper visa related to their course.

I believe that the OP has helpful advice from many of our members and Moderators

We wish him success in obtaining his visa exempt entry into Thailand...

Again I say... DO NOT FLY INTO THAILAND, USE LAND BORDER CROSSINGS (Myanmar land borders are CLOSED)

Good Luck

I had the same issue on my last entry into Thailand . Was told get a visa next time or I will be denied entry. He typed a few things down on his computer. So I'm not sure if it's noted under my passport number or not. I'm planning on extending one more time on Tuesday, then applying for the 60 day tourist visa when I leave again next month

Get a proper visa. If you are attending a course, you might be able to get an Education visa!

@Mark *****
not every course can grant a ED visa, and everyone can study whatever they want with a tourist visa or exemption.

you might want to read my comment once more....'might be able...'

60+60+45 = 165 is still under 180. But you close to this thershold. I recommend getting extension instead of risking. If you have a course -> get proper visa.

The 180 days rule is a myth, it's entirely at the discretion of the Immigration Officer

not every course can grant a ED visa. You can take any course with a tourist visa or exemption.

Use a reputable agent for the border you want to bounce through and make sure you tell them your full history. However it’s always at the IO discretion and never guaranteed

Use a company to do a land border bounce. They'll get you a new stamp with minimal hassle, as opposed to flying

Google "Bangkok Border run company" you'll find some. One I used was 3,500B, one of the first ones that comes up

but isn't there still the same risk?

@Shima ***********
NOT likely IF the experienced land border service company accepts to take you to get the New Visa exempt entry into Thailand. Be sure to tell them your recent history of staying in Thailand and your passport nation. They know what you need to do and what they will do to get you the stamp you're to get with their key assistance.

the risk is different for each entry point. Bangkok is notoriously one of the most strict. These border run companies entire business is getting people new entry stamps. They use a border that allows this, they have their Thai person assist you with immigration, escort you across the border and then back again.

the company will know the risk they do it everyday

As you say, it is impossible to know for certain. Having a visa is not infallible, and it's not a guarantee - that applies to any country.

If you were questioned heavily, as I and many others have been in recent months, the decision as to how seriously you treat this red flag is entirely yours, but it IS a red flag.

Laos seems a better place than Cambodia. I'd try there and avoid Cambodia
