Can a Canadian citizen obtain a third visa-exempt entry into Thailand after multiple visits?

Hello,

I would greatly appreciate some advice.

I'm a Canadian passport holder who is hoping to enter Thailand from Singapore on a third visa exempt stamp for 30 days (info is so conflicted on if this is possible)

My first stamp and first time in Thailand was for roughly 28 days, I then went to Laos for two weeks and came back for another 30 which I extended by another 30 days but only stayed an extra 15. On that re-entry the officer recommended getting a proper visa next time I came in (I did look a bit like a bum at this time, bad outfit and long hair).

I will have been out of Thailand for 22 days as of my upcoming attempt for re-entry. I would like to re-enter on Visa exempt once more and I'll be coming by Air into Suvarnabhumi. I can have 20,000 baht on my person, dress sharp, short hair and have an exit flight booked back to Singapore.

Do you think this is feasible? If I bought a flex flight to Singapore that left 7 days after arrival would that increase my chances and then I could just change the flight? Do things change for me if I get the proper TR visa?

I'd go for a more serious visa but I don't intend on coming back to Thailand for quite sometime time after this visit. It's mostly saying goodbye to friends I've made etc as I move on in life.

Thanks for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian passport holder is looking for advice on entering Thailand from Singapore on a third visa-exempt stamp for 30 days. They have previously stayed 28 days, then re-entered for another 30 days, which was extended. The poster has been out of Thailand for 22 days and plans to enter by air with appropriate documentation. Responses suggest it's possible but caution that immigration officers may question them due to previous interactions. Recommendations include dressing well, having sufficient funds, and possessing a confirmed exit flight.

If they bother to ask tell them You work on an oil rig out of Singapore and show them your return ticket

Allowed 2 entries by land and unlimited by air, and pending when you return, the thai Government is changing from 30 to 60 day on arrival, not 100% Guaranteed after all it is thailand but end of June or early July this MAYBE implemented.

My tip is also that a third visa exemption should be possible. You’ve had two previous ones, but only stayed in Thailand for 73 days in total. There’s no written restrictions, but the red flag is normally 180 days a year without any long stay visa. Several people manage to do three or four entries on visa exemption before the IO start questioning them. Good luck anyway!

the IO gave you a warning last time so I wonder if this was logged into the IT system. Only the new IO can allow or deny you. Good luck.

Would having say £500k sterling in your bank help when it comes to dealing with IOs?

Best of luck 🤞

Whatever happens please let us know.

Thank you

Would not risk going without a proper visa, after being warned.

If you are not allowed in, you will have to pay for a ticket out of Thailand, on the first available flight, and same day tickets are expensive.

Should be easy. The warning seems a bit overdone to me. Your travel history to Thailand is not so excessive.

Your steps for increasing the chances of not being denied seem good enough, and you have an onward ticket so that should be good enough.

I'd say you'll be fine, notwithstanding a questioning by Imm officers. However, it is still up to the Imm officer dealing with you.

Only other thing I can suggest is to avoid Suvarnabhumi airport if possible.

If the IO spoke to you last time it is very likely they will at least question you this time. Yes, having the cash, looking presentable, having a flight out of Thailand within 30 days will help but there’s no way of knowing how strict they’ll be. There must be at least a chance they’ll send you back to Singapore but they may just give you a hard time. It’s also possible they’ll say nothing.

I had a look at the Thai Embassy website and it says to allow at least 21 days when applying for a Tourist Visa. You complete an online application which is checked and then they give you an appointment. Return flight, hotel bookings for your entire stay, minimum 1000 SGD in a bank for 2 months.

From what you said, you won’t have time to get the visa anyway so up to you whether to risk it.

My guess is they’ll let you in but you can’t be certain.

Nobody but the immigration officer you will stand in front can answer the question. Flying in is the most difficult

By air you should be ok. Only TWO land entries per calendar year.
