TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the belief that the British Embassy is not providing support letters for UK citizens who feel stuck in Thailand. While some commenters argue that the embassy is issuing letters to those in specific situations, like those on overstay amnesty, others claim that many UK citizens can easily return to the UK as flights are available. There appears to be a mix of sarcasm and differing opinions on the embassy's actions and the actual situation of expats in Thailand.

on the contrary (and quite bizarrely in my opinion considering uk borders are open) the uk embassy is issuing letters for brits on overstay amnesty, who want to stay in thailand longer.

The uk embassy is issuing letters. Email them asap. Ignore the sarcastic expats that want Thailand for themselves

what sarcastic expats? The post referred to people stuck here! There are daily flights to the UK so no one from there is stuck here.

unless it's changed they're only issuing if your country of residence is closed...ie most won't get a letter.
