TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK expat in Thailand is seeking to extend their work visa, which expires on February 28, due to flight cancellations caused by COVID-19. A community member suggests that an extension based on COVID-19 travel restrictions may be available for up to 60 days. To apply, the following documents may be required: passport copies, a TM30 form, a letter from the embassy regarding travel issues, passport photos, and a fee. Different immigration offices may have varying requirements.

You should be able to get an 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. When you cancel your existing extension of stay based on employment, ask for an 60 day day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms)

4. A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy saying they don’t issue the letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport

The last day they are selling this extension of stay is March 30

thank you for your help,🙏 do I still need a letter from my embassy to apply for extension of stay e

at virtually all immigration offices, they do want that letter OR a letter/ statement saying the letter won't be issued. I believe if you look on the UK Embassy of Thailand's website, you'd see some notice that they aren't providing those letters. Just take a screenshot and print out, and you'd be fine.

Hi again sorry to be a pest I’ve sheared the U.K./ Thai website and can not find anything regarding not issuing letters for extension of stay

Contact the embassy; I know a lot of people from the UK got the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. They can give more information.

So you are still on the entry stamp with visa. You don't have to cancel anything other than your workpermit. You just go to your local immigration office to apply covid extension...

if you can not get an extension of stay based on employment because your employer can not get a work permit, you *CAN NOT* continue to work. You can stay until the last date on your “admitted to” stamp. On the last week, get the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

just a bit confirmation.. Did you enter Thailand with a new visa last December? or did you enter with a re-entry permit?

I believe your government should have an announcement on the embassy website saying they are nit giving those letters out. Just do a screenshot and print out that section from the website.
