Just a few Questions Regarding DTV Visa

Just spent 7 months out the last 12 Months in Thailand 😍 only been back a week and missing it 😂

I will be applying from the UK

1. Does the 500,000 Baht have to be in your bank account for 3 Months and show on your statements it’s been there for 3 months or Longer? Or can you make a transfer into your account before you submit the application?

2. Is the 500,000 Baht in your bank account checked on arrival in Thailand after being approved?

3. Been seeing and hearing you have to also show that 500,000 Baht on 90 Day Check In - Re entry After 180 Days

4. If I wasn’t to have the 500,000 baht in my account how does the sponsorship letter work?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV Visa requires applicants to have a bank balance of 500,000 Baht. It is commonly advised that this amount needs to be shown in bank statements for at least 3 months prior to application. However, some recent applicants from London have reported that funds can be transferred shortly before applying, and the bank balance is not typically checked upon arrival in Thailand or at 90-day reports. There is some debate over the necessity of having this amount in your account for 3 months versus the option of providing a sponsorship letter, which may vary by embassy.

Money seasoning depends on embassy, no need to show bank information for 90 day report (ive done twice now) , definitely needed for in country 6month extension.

Sponsorship is dicey and depends on embassy. I wouldn’t recommend. Best to have in your name.

Ive never been asked details on entry. BUT technically it can happen and has happened. (But rare)

I just applied from London and was advised I need 3 months by an agent , all went through fine within 5 days

I'm still waiting for my approval but after following local news in Thailand for a while it's clear the new policy is aimed at replacing low value tourists and expats with high value tourists and expats. So I would say the 500k bit is the most crucial part of the application and worth spending the most focus on. Anything that shows income and savings in your name etc etc.

Again...I'm new to this too but after living there for the last 3.5 years I'm pretty sure this is the goal with this visa

if you ain't got the money don't come. There are enough poor people scamming in Thailand already simple

@David *******
exactly...this entire shake up is designed to replace the people who don't contribute with ones that do. It's a policy Thailand started last year and this is the official route to it's result.

They don't want people who take work away from thais. They want people who contribute. Notice how the applications that went smoothly were the ones that just met the criteria

was simply asking some questions not a fact of affordability just asking how the process works.. isn’t this the whole point of the group to ask questions etc? Literally just back from spending 4 months in Thailand and a total of 7 months in the last year so I can clearly afford it I was just asking some questions from videos and other posts I had seen

Every now and then we get a moral high ground guy in this group quick to assume we are "bad for Thailand"

Reality is some of us are richer than. The nay sayers lol.

Youl be fine if you can show bank balance of 500k lasting three months

sorry my reply wasn’t aimed at you 😊

Anonymous participant no worries. David has a point however...this entire visa and change is aimed at rooting out low spenders and attracting high spenders so the more focus you can put into showing those funds the better. Your also going to get asked at airports to show it again when you enter Thailand and potentially every 6 months also. If you don't have that cash in an account go for an education visa, you can enter on a three month tourist visa then extend it by one month more to get 4 months. Give 50k baht (£1000-1500) to a reputable visa agent to set up the education visa for you and go for the Thai language course. That will give you a year without issues and youl learn the local language. You can also do Chinese, russian, german etc.

That's what I've done for a few years I'm only getting the DTV as it's five years and allows me to work for my UK company without issues

Anonymous participant just because you stayed here for 7 months doesn't mean a thing. What visa were you in visa exempt 555. Yeh it's an advise group but the basics you need to know you are asking here questions so you can short cut the system. Try it and good luck

Anonymous participant look online in Thai govt it's all explained there search in here type in key words it's all here. Sounds like you don't have money. It's easy to apply if you are not trying to scam. You don't have to explain yourself just be warned immagration are searching for these people who borrow the money anf they will kick them out

@David *******
that is exactly my point...Im far from poor 🤣

It's the people living off border runs with no money to contribute to the economy that will struggle getting this visa. Not genuine nomads and business owners.

We actually help Thailands economy lol

London currently need 3 months bank statements

London is quite a good embassy to deal with, they have always accepted our documents no problem. They need the 500k balance on application and money in the account around that figure ,( debits and credits taking it below is ok ) but generally a healthy balance around 500k over the last 3 months is what they have been accepting mate

Muay Thai Fever Gym is it ok if the fund were in an investment account for 3+ months before being moved to an instant access account just before applying for the visa?

Can show statements for both accounts.

3. Not true, anonymous posters spread bs because they are jealous
Anna *********
Check other threads but recent application in London have been successful with funds transferred into the relevant saving accounts just before the application not 3 months prior.

No one has mentioned the account being checked upon arrival into Thailand nor has it been checked on the 90 day report

Good luck

3-6 months 500k must be maintained. They usually doesnt check amount upon entry but sometimes they can . Sponsorship letter works

Anonymous participant Yes, that can work for sponsorship
