Hi feeling unsure. We plan to get a 60 day visa Laos then extend 30 days. Then do border bounce at Ranong and extend further 30 days after that so total 4 months. Is that possible? I get confused with the border bounce / land entry etc. Thanks 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is considering staying in Thailand for a total of 4 months, starting with a 60-day visa from Laos, followed by a 30-day extension, and then doing a border bounce at Ranong to extend their stay further with another 30-day extension. Several comments confirm that this plan is feasible, though there are important factors to consider, especially regarding rapid changes in border accessibility. Users suggest that if the arithmetic is correct, they could achieve this total duration, though caution about the unpredictable Myanmar border is advised. Additionally, alternatives such as the Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) could provide more flexibility for extended stays.
You need a visa to enter the border country at ranong I think Burma I forget now. but i did a visa run to Satun a month ago rather than ranong because of need for visa at this crossing at ranong. No visa needed to enter Malaysia at satun. I used kvb visa run out of phuket. Great day no issues.

I spend six months in a year (less than 180 days) every year since 17 years (!!) in Thailand. I got myself a "1-year extension od stay based on being over 50/retirement" soon after my 50th birthday. I use the 800,000.- THB bank proof for the financial requirement. I entered on a 5th of October on a "90 days Non-Imm-O visa", so EVERY other year the Extension needs to be "renewed" on a January 4th (as the EOS begins a day after your 90-days stay permit expires)
you can always ask me for visa- or Thailand related advice. I will tell you straight away a FACT, or I will either tell you that I don't know. . . . I am not the one like so many FB group members who know Jack Shit but are keen to spread their false informations out of their arses, just to have had their 5 cents worth
It's the name of my GF. . . . . I am just a bloke from Germany and I am involved in Thai visa advice for many years, got my own German speaking FB group
read my other post and better ask for an excuse, paddy. You might know Jack Shit, whom I never met in Jack-son, Tennesssee, but I know Tod Daniels, the jock shit of Thai visa advice groups

I do wish that the Thai Immigration Authorities would undertstand that there are a hell of a lot of us who want to spend 4 or 5 months as tourists in Thailand and allow us to get a visa for that instead of all the
*****
+ extensions stuff. We do not want to live here just spend a few months enjoying the country. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Just be aware many immigration officers get twitchy if you exceed 180 in a year. Under Thai tax laws you then become a tax resident, and they will assume you're working in the country (which you may well be, but that's another story), and could deny or restrict your entry
So you already are on the 30+30 days visa exempt, wish to re-enter with a 60+30 days tourist visa, and after that do another border run and visa-exempt entry? All I can say is, Immigration might refuse the 30 days extension for your second visa-exempt entry. Have a plan B just in case they will keep the 1900.- THB and stamp you with "application denied, you have 7 days to leave the kingdom"

Should be fine just be wary about Ranong as Myanmar borders can open and close without warning

60 day visa plus extension is 90 days or 3 months, a border bounce gives you 30 days exempt plus 30 days extension gives you a total 150 days
SETV has to show arrival date and departure date. 5 months apart. Had ongoing travel booked for 89 days but that was not allowed either. Told I had to have onward travel booked for 60 days as the 30 day extension is never guaranteed.
that's common so you didn't think ahead and have a fwd flight within the 60 days so they question you. Next time you now know get a throw away ticket within the 60 days
