I submitted my paperwork on October 13th, got documents requested on the 17th, and I’ve been waiting since. Is it worth visiting the Embassy in-person to get an update? They immediately hangup the phone if I try to call, and when I emailed them before, they said it would be processed by yesterday. I’m supposed to head out tonight, so I’m worried.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user submitted their visa paperwork on October 13th and received a request for additional documents on the 17th. After being unable to get updates via phone and email, they're considering visiting the embassy in person since they are scheduled to travel that night. Comments on the post emphasize frustrations with embassy communication and advise against booking flights based on visa approvals.
It's too late in your case but just in case for anyone that's going to apply in the future, do what my husband did. Book a flight that is flexible/can be changed without any exorbitant fees. He booked this type of ticket with Scoot airlines and he changed his flight once since his DTV wasn't approved in time for the original flight. Luckily for him, it was finally approved a day before his new flight.

Anonymous participant 846 You're right. I have heard the UK asks for actual proof of booking. It is a strange request because why would it matter when you're booked to go if the visa is valid from the day of approval not from the date of your arrival. Even worse when you buy the ticket at their requst and then they hang you out to dry by not approving your visa in time for you keep the flight. Really nasty, in my opinion.
Same here. I’ve been waiting for my approval for almost four weeks now. I went to the embassy to ask about it, but they said there’s nothing they can do . it depends on the consulate.
