TLDR : Answer Summary
Opening a bank account in Thailand on a DTV visa is challenging, and it's commonly advised that you may need to use an agent to facilitate the process, which can cost around 5,000 baht or more. Most banks are currently reluctant to open accounts for DTV visa holders without agent assistance. Experiences shared by users suggest that it's generally more manageable to have an agent handle this, whereas direct applications at banks have become increasingly difficult, especially for younger individuals.
go to bangkok bank and make sure they arenr selling u an insurance with the bank account.

It’s a struggle now even with an agent. Even agents are saying they cannot open an account unless you are over 50 so for the younger people it’s hard

There should be regulation that requires banks to open accounts for all legal adults in the country like many of the worlds countries have

Try opening an account in most western countries without residence, virtually impossible now, had to close my accounts in South Africa, Dubai and HK in last 5 years due to non residency, I keep my UK for now as I have a property there , still - that will be difficult when I sell up it’s a worldwide attempt to reduce money laundering.
I say use agent for everything your visa your apartment rentals whatever you need it’s well worth the money and it’s cheap if you’re American or a foreigner it’s not like using a service in the United States for example, last service I used they charge me $50 and did all the work for me for my visaand the realtor we use when we bought our condo her commission was next to nothing compared to American realtors
