TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa has recently been introduced in Thailand, and experiences vary when trying to open a bank account with it. Many have reported difficulties, as some bank staff are unfamiliar with the DTV visa. Factors such as not having a long-term lease or Residence Certificate may also affect the ability to open an account. Some users suggest visiting multiple bank branches or using an agent to help with the process.
Sadly the DTV doesn't seem to cut any ice with any bank branch as far as ability to open a bank account.
Could be because the visa is so new (just under 6 weeks old) that they don't know about it.
It's down to a numbers game, hit enough bank branches and you'll find one that will let you open an account or you find an agent that will help you open one for a fee
Some have saying they could not but all I asked did not have a long term lease or Residence Cetificate. The DTV is not that well known so many Bank Staff do not have a clue what it is. To be 100% an agent can get it down. They can get accounts opened on Visa Exempt stamps.
