TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on visa options in Thailand after holding a Non-O visa based on marriage, now having a child. They inquire about getting a multi-entry visa due to work outside the country. Comments suggest applying for an Extension of Stay at the local Immigration Office along with a Multiple Re-Entry Permit. Differences between visa categories based on marriage and having a child are discussed, notably the financial requirements. It’s highlighted that an Extension based on child does not require proof of funds to be seasoned for two months prior to application, unlike the marriage-based extension.

Hi
@T**
, the proof of funds is not a problem now. It is more about doing the border bounces every 90 days, which are a hassle

well a yearly extension of stay based on marriage to a thai or raising a half thai child would be what you wanted then. Like I said, the difference is only that a yearly extension based on raising half thai children requires no seasoning of funds where as marriage to a thai requires 2 months.

The ONLY upside to getting a yearly extension based on being the father of a half thai child (that was born while you were married to a thai) versus a yearly extension of stay based on marriage to a thai national is the 400K baht banked money does not need to be seasoned for the 2 months before your application for your extension like it does for one based on marriage.

IF all you're wanting to do is stay on the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa like you have now where you border bounce every 90 days you need to get that from a thai consulate in another country (Savannakhet or Ho Chi Minh City) because those are the only two places that issue one without proof of funds ..

totally FALSE. There is no extension of stay that requires 200K baht in the bank based on marriage OR on the support of a thai child.

With a yearly extension of stay, do you still need to leave the country, or can you do the 90 day online reporting?

You can not switch inside Thailand from a Non Immigrant O visa to a Non Immigrant B visa. But if you have the Non Immigrant O visa (or Extension of Stay) based on marriage with a Thai National you can apply for a Work Permit and do not have to switch visa.

@Robert ******
so from a non O, I can go for a non B, which will let me apply for a work permit also? Am I understanding correctly?

You need to meet the financial requirements for the Extension of Stay, minimum 400.000 Thb 2 months in bank prior application OR 40.000 Thb monthly income certified by your Embassy if from abroad OR 3 months tax and sso payments of 40.000 Thb if income inside Thailand. Extension of Stay cost 1.900 Thb and the multiple re-entry permit 3.800 Thb. Or you travel to HCMC or Savannakhet and apply for the 1 year Non Immigrant B visa without financial requirements.

I you get the 1 year Extension of Stay you can stay inside Thailand for the whole year. Yes, you do need to make reports when you're 90 days inside the country. If you like to travel you need a re-entry permit to keep the extension alive.
