Is it common for marriage visa extensions to take 45 days for processing in Thailand?

My Marriage Visa Extension comes due April 10 which is Saturday. I went to immigration today and they said they still have not completed processing the application and to come back on April 19 and there will be no over stay issues. It has been in process for about 45 days now. Is this common? This is my 2nd extension.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about their marriage visa extension, which is due on April 10, and the processing delay reported by immigration. The comments indicate that long processing times (like 45 days) are common and that there should be no issue with overstaying as long as they have the 'under consideration' stamp.

TOTALLY COMMON (especially for immigration offices who have to send the paperwork to the head office of their area to get approval.

I'm guess you got an "under consideration" stamp when you applied for your yearly extension? That is actually the first month of your new extension and there is NO danger in running on overstay or anything if your office hasn't gotten the paperwork back yet to ink in the year extension by the time that stamp runs out.

I got the under consideration stamp on Feb 15. So I should just hang back and come in on

? I was thinking the paperwork may be completed sometime this week and if I come on the 19th I would get hit with an overstay. Not true ?

not true at ALL

there is NO OVERSTAY involved in this process

the under consideration stamp you have IS part of your new extension and they'll give you the rest on the 19th when they told you to show up.

OR go in Friday the 16th, that's the first day they're open after Songkran (although it's the only day they're open that week so it will be pure madness there)

I don't know if it's "normal" or not per se, but it's nothing to be worried about. April 12 to April 15 is Songkran after all :)
