A friend of mine got in August a multientry NON-B. Just few days ago he flew out and after 24 hours he flew back in. He got a permission of stay of 90 days and no problem, BUT he never had a work permit because he quit the job after few days he got that visa in August. Is this situation weird? I mean, entering again without the WP. Is that visa should have been cancelled after he quit the job? Was he just lucky or is it a normal situation?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A friend entered Thailand on a Multi-Entry Non-B visa without having a work permit, after quitting his job shortly after obtaining the visa. Many expats noted that holding a Non-B visa does not necessarily require a work permit to remain valid. In fact, some Thai consulates offer these visas with minimal documentation. However, the regulations can vary, especially at certain borders where a work permit might be requested. Therefore, while it may seem unusual, it is not uncommon for expatriates to enter Thailand without an active work permit on a valid Non-B visa.

There are a few thai consulates which will issue a year-long, multi-entry Non-B with very little requirements as far as documentation. Some in the US will issue it solely for the purpose of looking for business opportunities in thailand.

THere are also a LOT of companies in thailand that will "sponsor" you (provide paperwork to go get a Non-B visa) and depending on the consulate you go to you can get a year-long, multi-entry Non-B.

I know quite a few people who have pulled them in their country before they came here.

At some borders, such as Ranong, you are asked to show your work permit with the multi non-b visa.

I was denied exit there, 2 years ago, as I had stopped working but still had time left on the visa.

It was no problem to fly out and in again from DMK.

Actually my friend got in May a single entry Non-B visa and then in August the Multientry one. So maybe he had WP for a short time.

To avoid abuse, most neighbor countries only provide a Single Entry B visa for a max stay of 90 days. Than you can apply at local Immigration for an Extension of Stay.

, that's a good point that I'd totally forgot about (y) , and in Penang that is the rule to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-B. However different consulates have different rules about it, some won't issue them no matter what and others will issue them with very little documentation indeed.

As far as I know is that the 1 year Visa only is given on showing a WP with minimum 8 months validity. Not at first time application. But I agree i did not make mentioned the difference. Thanks for clearing that.

that is not quite correct and many many people pull year-long, multi-entry Non-B's from Penang with the correct documentation. A LOT of the people who work on the islands in southern thailand are on these types of visas because they can't meet the documentation requirement to get yearly extensions at the immigration office

No. You can get on your own. But its very hard.

Mine is 100% legal

Clint Elliott There are certain requirements and documentation needed to deem you eligible in order to obtain a Non Immigration B visa. What exactly is yours based on? Unless you got yours illegally?

Good luck with that...

Its my second one. So I'm guessing till i run out my time on it

I'd be curious to see for how long you'll be able to keep it.

Haha. I would not post that on social media. But I can be done. I am walking proof. I got a 1yr non-b on my own in my home country

I like to know where and how?

Before you start work, the employer applies for the work permit, with papers of Ministry of Labor and company papers you can apply for a Non Immigrant B visa. This Visa is valid till last day and will not be cancelled if the employer or you decide not to work for the company.

Ok, i thought the Non Immigrant B visa is related to a job and to a consequent work permit. So u dont need to be an employee to get a Multientry Non-B visa, do u?
Robert *******
It is normal. A Visa is to enter the country and to get an admitted to stay period. A Work Permit allows you to work. These are two total different things obtained at total different offices.

If he no longer has the job it should have been cancelled. How ever you do not need a work permit with a multi non-b.
Robert *******
An Extension of Stay based on working must be cancelled same day as the WP is cancelled. a Visa stays valid till the last day mentioned on the visa.
