Hi, is it just me or are they asking everyone with a non-B for the WORK PERMIT at DM immigration now? Third time for me.
I have a WP, just don't always remember to carry it for HOLIDAY TRIPS.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses an expat's experience regarding the requirement to show a work permit (WP) when entering Thailand with a Non-B visa. Many users share varying opinions on the necessity of carrying a WP during holiday trips abroad, with some advising that it may be requested at immigration, while others argue it is not required. Different experiences at Suvarnabhumi airport are mentioned, illustrating a lack of consistent protocol. The consensus seems to suggest carrying a copy of the work permit for travel may be prudent.
Time to close down. There are rules, but if you think that you are not allowed to say a word and do everything the immigration officer tells you, well have fun. Please if the immigration Officer says jump, ask how high while jumping, if he ask for your swimming certificate, you better brought it with you. There is no rule that you need a work permit to travel international, if you think you need or you are to afraid to speak up, make sure you have the work permit in your pocket.
I took my workpermit abroad once to show it to the Thai embassy while applying for a new non-b. They acted very upset and lectured me that the work permit has to stay at the place of business and may not be taken abroad. I never took it with me again, just took a copy.
Your passport is a travel and id document, your work permit is a document to let you work at the address, employer and type of job mentioned inside. You do not need to carry a work permit to travel.
This does not answer my question and is, with all due respect, a rather useless bit of information when you strand in front of an immigration officer who demands to see it.
No need to carry your WP except for visits to a Thai Consulate, Thai Immigration and the Labor Ministry or perhaps to get a bank account or get a Thai Driver's License. The WP is not related to Exiting or Entering Thailand in any manner whatsoever.
I think it was just you. I believe you need a Non-B BEFORE you can get a work permit. It'll be non-sensical if someone acquires Non-B before they arrive in Thailand, and get rejected that they didn't get a work permit yet.
I'm assuming the holiday trip was outside of Thailand, correct? When I fly domestic, I just show them my Thai drivers license.
