Work permit cancelled/ non b visa: Hi guys, if someone just went to Penang to get a 1 year visa and his WP gets cancelled, is the visa he got from the embassy still valid until its expiry date? From my search of the group it looks like only extension stamp (from immigration) gets cancelled but I'm hearing differently from my local contacts... anyway to get the current truth?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among users indicates that a one-year, multi-entry Non-B visa issued by a Thai consulate outside Thailand remains valid even if the associated work permit is canceled. Users have shared experiences of continuing to use such visas without issue by exiting and re-entering Thailand every 90 days. However, some express confusion about the requirements and potential validity issues in relation to Thai immigration policies.

I stopped working and canceled my WP whist on a non b visa ( which I got in Penang ) that still had 10 months on it. I just carried on doing border runs with no problem . I then extended it based on marriage when the Visa expired .

Nope, there's nothing on a thai immigration website that will say that. <- That's because thai immigrations inside the country don't sell year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type visas. They're sold by the ministry of foreign affairs dept at thai consulates which are all outside the country..

If that's the case, no matter what anyone is saying; even if the situation changed, once the visa is issued it's good and they can use it until it expires.

And how did you get a year-long, multi-entry Non-B visa in Penang?

Unless I'm mistaken That consulate requires you be listed as a managing director of the company, own 20% of the shares and have a work permit valid for at least 8 months to issue that type of visa :O

IF you have a year-long, multi-entry VISA <- from a thai consulate in another country the visa itself can't be canceled and you can continue to use it (bouncing out and back in every 90 days) for the validity of the visa.

Thanks a lot Tod! Is there a way to get an official law/ government page to prove to whoever think differently that they are not correct? I am being told that if you come into thailand without a WP you will not be allowed to enter on a non B visa...
