TLDR : Answer Summary
It is not typical for immigration offices to hold passports for a week while processing retirement visas. Most users mentioned that they expected quicker returns, with some offices in Jomtien allowing next-day returns. However, if you have received the necessary documentation and paid the fee, your visa extension will be backdated to your application date, preventing any overstays. It's important to confirm details with the specific immigration office handling your case.

I personally have only known one immigration office that has people come back and that's the one in Jomtien which has you come back the next day BUT I can see that Samui might also hold them for a period to get them signed off

As long as you paid the 1900baht for the extension and got the receipt you should be fine, they'll date your extension from the date you applied so you're not on overstay.

Did they stamp on your receipt when you were to come back or did they tell you or what?

and is there a place where I can make a complaint?

you can apply any time from 30 days before your Non-O entry stamp expires right on up to the last day it expires. There is no "overstay" once you apply for the year extension.

If they tried to charge you for it I'd make sure I'd get a receipt because I am 100% sure you're not on overstay..

thanks, actually they already told me that I'll have to pay for an overstay because I should have arrived two weeks! Before my visa expires

you won't have to pay for an overstay :/ You applied BEFORE you Non-O stamp expired. They will date your year extension starting from the date you applied for it, NOT the date you go back to get it.

yep you were charged the correct amount for a year extension (1900baht) and a multiple re-entry permit (3800baht) = 5700baht (y)

thanks Tod, they gave me a date and I paid 5700 for a multiple entry visa. I came two days before my non O visa expires so it means I'll have to pay for an overstay although I didn't overstayed

Did you get all your documentation together and turn in your paperwork yourself OR did you just give your passport to an 'agent' to do it for you?
