TLDR : Answer Summary
If you hire a visa agent to renew your retirement visa in Thailand, you will likely need to go in person to the immigration office, mainly to take a photo. The process can be quick, taking as little as a minute to ten minutes once you're at the office, depending on the agent and the location.

Only reason you go is to have a photo taken in immigration no queuing and they were huge 2 min job in and out

Only for the photo. In and out in 10 minutes or less.

I just did mine last month. I had to walk in, take a photo and walk out. Total time maybe one minute.

More than likely you will have to go if it's the first time. Even if you use an agent.

Depends on the agent you use. Some just push paper and you still have to go. Some are full service and do it all for you.

mostly you will find that if you don't have to go to immigration they are obtaining under the table rather than officially
