What should I expect when applying for my first retirement extension in Thailand from Jomtien immigration?

We went to Jomtien immigration yesterday to get our first retirement extension. We waited outside in line for about 30 minutes, then got to counter 8. They did not want the tm30, first time for that in Jomtien, but they did want the rental agreement and a copy of the residence update attached to our passports. After a few minutes of looking at the copies and our passports, she had us sign a stm2, took our money, gave us claim checks and told us to come back today after 2 pm. We returned and they gave us our newly stamped passports. Turns out it's one year from the date of application, not from the end of the last extension. Lost a few weeks there. So we managed to get our first retirement extension in Jomtien even though the non-o visa was issued in Bangkok, all because we got a covid extension that didn't follow that rule.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully applied for their first retirement extension at Jomtien immigration, detailing the process and requirements. They waited 30 minutes, were not asked for the TM30 form but needed a rental agreement and residence update. After signing the STM2 form, they paid the fee and received a timeline for returning for their stamped passports. The extension was granted from the application date, not the previous extension end date, which was noted as causing a short loss in time.

Didn’t they want to see your banking information the 800 K in the bank?

Of course they did, I was merely talking about the tm30. They want a today updated passbook copies, statement back a few months, and certificate of balance.

The usual passport copies, data page, visa, tm6, entry stamp, last extension stamp, tm7, photo, money.

What they took for residence was rental agreement and current residence update, as we moved from Bangkok to Pattaya.

It was from the date of the application because the reason for the extension was changed. Next time if you get another extension of stay based on retirement one year will be added to your current stay until date. Any time the reason for the extension changes the new extension will be from the application date.

Sure was you probably did not notice. The first covid extensions were done from date of application also or you got very lucky.
