hello everyone!

has anyone done a border run on a DTV already?

if so, was it it easy to return? or was your entry scrutinized? my 180 days is coming up pretty soon and am curious.

thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion focuses on the ease of returning to Thailand after performing a border run while on a DTV visa. Users generally agree that while some scrutiny may occur at the border, many have successfully returned without issues. Tips suggest taking a short trip to a nearby country, having necessary documents ready, and being aware of regional border regulations. Overall, the consensus indicates that a border run can be handled smoothly if proper precautions are taken.

Laos charges me $40 for a VoA, so I'm not going to just turn around and come back. I will get my money's worth by having lunch in Vientiane and then returning

Just take a flight out for a enjoyable weekend in say HCMC, then no problems. If you can afford a DTV & B500k in your savings account (unless drained to B1.00)you can afford a short hop weekend break 🤷🏾‍♀️

If you have a couple of days to spend outside, that's ideal and no need to worry when you return next day or in 2 days. Otherwise, it depends on specific border. That's the truth. Even if someone tell you otherwise, you can't present that as a claim on border. So, better safe than sorry.

If you got a Visa, why are you worried so much?

Extra scrutiny might be a valid and genuine passport, a copy of your DTV, the TDAC and they might ask to show 20k or equivalent currency in Cash.

So be aware that the Immigration Officer is allowed to talk and ask something, it is part of their job.

Hey mate read my post on this page and understand your DTV. You shouldn't have any issues at the border if you satisfy the regular tourist requirements for entry into Thailand, but because of the DTV you are unlikely to be scrutinized.

Last year I did a 6 hour border bounce to Singapore direct from CNX (I was meeting a mate transiting through Changi) and had no issues coming back in to CNX.

I'd question the legitimacy of the goings on in that post mate. It seems they're paying a bribe at 2000 baht for same day return which is completely unnecessary on the DTV.

true, but still an increased risk of friction at the least.

Anonymous participant 894 Why? You can come and go as you please. The scrutiny is for those without the correct visa.

Doing a bounce is just going to unnecessarily raise the chance of scrutiny. A brief 4-7 day trip is an opportunity to see somewhere else in the region.
