Came back and forth twice through BKK, no problem. No documents needed. Seems like only people trying to extend in country has problems.

If you’ve spent 6 months out of thailand and I was the immigration officer, I’d be asking a few questions…First one being please show the contract with the school.

It was never designed for people that want to spend 6 months per YEAR. Its 6 months at a time for up to 5 years. That is how the visa reads. Get your facts straight.... The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is a visa that allows long-term stays in Thailand for digital nomads, remote workers, and freelancers. It's also known as the "digital nomad visa".

Eligibility:

- You can apply for the DTV if you're a freelancer, digital nomad, or remote worker

- You can also apply if you plan to participate in Thai activities like cooking classes, boxing, sports training, or medical treatments

Visa validity:

The DTV is valid for five years

- You can stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per entry

- You can extend your stay once per entry for another 180 days

Application process:

- You can apply for the DTV through a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate

- You can also apply online through Thailand's official e-visa website

- The visa fee is non-refundable

Additional requirements:

- You may need to provide proof of employment, business license, or bank statements

- You may need to provide a criminal record certificate

The Royal Thai Embassy may request additional documents or an interview

Ken Germann Sorry but What you say makes no sense.. Explain to me please, 1- Why did they design a visa with only 6 month per entry if this is a long stay visa ? 2- Why the ministry of tourism said clearly it is still a type of tourist visa ? 3- Why you don't have any privilege like other long term visa, like opening a bank account ? or get a 5 year driving license ? The truth is there was a loophole for some time when people didn't know if it was allwed to stay almost all year long in Thailand. A representative of the ministry of tourism clarified this. But clearly DTV was NOT created to be a NON O or RESIDENT visa.

I don't think like you. The DTV visa is initially designed for people that want to spend up to 6 months per year in thailand. It will not be suspicious to be out of Thailand for an extended period of time. Instead It will bring more scrutinity if you exit and enter the same day, just to reinitiate the countdown. (even if this is allowed to do this)

If you get a DTV under the Muay Thai approach, but want to change to workcation, what do you do? Just provide proof of work overseas?

A few people have had to show their work contracts. Immigrations main concern is people working illegally in Thailand. I think they'll be happy with you just saying verbally that you're doing Muay Thai. But some people think/hope otherwise and want documents checked.

All DTVs are the same unless it's stated in the remarks. So no need to do anything if you want to start remote work.

Thanks! I'm aware it's the same visa, but I was wondering more specifically, if I exit and re enter the country and immigration asks what I'm doing, would I have to show them Muay Thai or remote work? Especially if I finish the Muay Thai course.

Should be ok but you can pay for safe entry if they start getting strict.

My friend was asked at the airport for information regarding his Muay Thai. This was last month. He is not in this group. It does seem few get asked or random. I would just travel with some documentation just in case.

Someone posted they had to show they still enrolled in the course upon arrival at Bangkok airport. Muay Thai is the most popular option bogus agents use so those using it are the most likely to be questioned at borders. Best to have documentation of current course to hand.
