TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around whether it is advisable to return to Thailand on the same day after a border run or to stay overnight to avoid potential immigration issues. Several users share their personal experiences, suggesting that while same-day returns might be possible, staying for at least one night in the neighboring country could help avoid suspicion from immigration authorities. The DTV is mentioned as a multiple-entry visa that typically does not face the same issues as shorter tourist visas during border runs, but some users caution against quick turnarounds due to potential scrutiny from immigration officials.

I did it today in Kuala Lumpur, same day return with no problems

DTV is 5 year multiple entry visa. It's not 60 day visa exempt that has problem doing border bounce.

I stayed in Singapore for 30 minutes, then left 🤣

The issue is immigration in Singapore or whatever country you're doing that at, might get suspicious. By land you can do a border run but I've heard of problems from the immigration authorities of the country you're transiting through, if you're just doing a quick turnaround as it seems suspicious. Drug couriers might do something of that nature.

Thanks for the advice but luckily for me I don't transport this kind of merchandise so they can search me in all directions 🤣🤣 And then the visa run in itself is not illegal it becomes so when it is abusive normally with tourist visas but there is no reason to refuse entry to Thailand with a visa issued in good and due form!

its a border run if you have a visa :) visarun is for to get one. With dtv, easy

With a DTV no issue for coming back to Thailand even on the same day, but best to do such runs via land or using a service.
Toni *******
@Paul ******
but if they refuse your entry, you will be going back to thailand anyway, so mission accomplished? 😅

Depends on the circumstances.

@Paul ******
on what circumstances? You got stamped out, and coming back with a valid visa?

Firstly, Singaporean or Malaysian immigration might be suspicious of why you would leave as soon as you entered. If you're staying for a full day, that's fine but not if you're turning around as soon as you entered.

Secondly, Thai immigration doesn't take kindly to same day air border runs. Each individual will have different experiences, but I've heard a lot of horror stories.

Land based runs are better. Especially if you use a service, which brings you across and back.

It's all accurate information.

i only hear horror stories from anonymous people

@Laurent ****
That's crazy. Why would you do that? Spend at least a night if you're flying.

@Paul ******
One night in Singapore would cost you more than a return flight.

That's what I did during the first visa run, but during this one, I had an appointment the next day, so it was complicated. But it's true that it opens up the opportunity to visit many countries in the surrounding area. 😀

I drove to ban pakkad border on ny 180th day, 15mins and i was back in the car

You were lucky there were so few people. That border can get busy with Cambodian workers. Thais are rare except for casino punters as Thais don't like Cambodia so it's always Cambodians who are in the vast majority of those crossing the border.

@Paul ******
yeah, nobody in queue when i arrived

Depends on the time of day. Mid morning and anywhere from mid afternoon to early evening can get busy. Hat Lek is much better in that sense; although more motorists cross there, there are fewer pedestrians clogging up immigration, generally speaking.

1 night won't avoid any problems if there are going to be any

Up to you.
