Hello, I’m joining this group to find out whether it’s difficult to apply for the DTV visa on your own. Do you know any agents or lawyers who can handle it for you? What are the usual prices? I’m based in Koh Samui. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for a DTV visa on your own is generally considered straightforward, especially if you meet all the requirements. Many community members suggested that you can apply from outside Thailand without needing an agent, as agents often inflate costs. Some shared that you only need basic documentation, and the visa itself costs around 400 USD, while agents may charge between 80,000 to 100,000 Thai Baht. It's also emphasized that you need to be outside Thailand to submit your application and that understanding the requirements can be done through various online resources.

It's only difficult if you can't read or spell, or can't concentrate enough to fill in a few required fields in the application.

If you meet all the requirements it's not hard at all. I'd say skip the agent.

First of all you can not apply for the visa while in Thailand and you have to stay where you applied until a decision on your application is made.

To get all the info you need and to get a good overview of what is required check out dtvquickdotcom. I used their step by step guide and got approved in 4 days for workcation

as little ng as you have cash in home country to declare easy. i have done it myself and supported guys. just do it from outside thailand. its not actually an immigration bisa so shortcuts not necessary. just get an email from a medical, dentist support that you will use soft power access. basically an email from a dentist will suffice. the visa costs 400usd where agents charge 80-100k thai baht for what

It used to be pretty straighforward to apply for a DTV yourself. There was little to nothing any agent could do. Nowadays, several Thai consulates "make up" additional own requirements. So, the insight any good agent could provide is to help figuring out where best to apply for a DTV. But you could also figure that out yourself with the help of this very group. Bear in mind, you can only apply from outside of Thailand.

It all depends on what you have your own to make the visa.. if you don’t have anything then it will not be cheap.

Actually, I don’t have anything at the moment, I’m just gathering information to see what makes more sense between doing the process myself or using an agent / lawyer.
